Philippe Clement is the new Gers manager

Hopefully the first thing Clement does is teach Dessers about the offside rule.

Just getting the hang of that will bring a step change improvement in the threat he carries.

you never know what you have in a player under a dud manager.

we all said beale was schite, so i think you need to see how players performs under another manager before writing them off.

I seen petrov, petta, and others look terrible under barnes but then come to life under o'neil.

look at tony ralston under ange

He clearly has something or he wouldnt have been able to do all of that. But for it to take several months and a change of coach to potentially get something out of him tells you he isnt the man for us.

Sorry but disagree. Our history is littered with examples of this, as is Celtic's.

Dessers wouldn't be the first or last player to get a new lease of life with a new Manager or playing style. And he also wouldn't be the first who took a few months to settle before hitting form. In this sense I think people have short memories.

Our greatest ever striker had chants of "Ally Ally get to f..." about a year in to his Ibrox career.

His best ever partner was booed a few months in.

Calls for arguably our greatest ever keeper to be dropped and sold because he couldn't make the step up intensified after another calamity knocked us out the Skol Cup/

A double treble winning captain was roundly booed after another mistake in his second season.

The idea that if he had anything he would have shown it by now is just not true. No one would argue he's shown little so far. But he has a pedigree and having spend £4m on him I'd prefer we see how much of that we can squeeze out before writing him off completely.

I’m in awe of your optimism

The players you mention were all in and out of form or trying to find their feet in a new environment.
But come on, in the roughly 14 starts Dessers has had can you actually think of a any incidents where he did ok?
I can – that pass to Matondo was very good, so in near 1000 mins of game time I have found his youtube montage lasting 2 seconds.

I’ve got him well below Kevin Kyle and Kyle had a decent enough career as well. But he was done and disinterested when he came to Rangers and yet still looked a better player.
Seriously that’s where we are.

As for the others I’m more inclined to give Lammers a bit of slack as he would be a stand out in most Glasgow 5s teams down at the goals complex.
In fact, he might even be decent in another league, but he was signed to play in Scotland and so far, has looked poor in competitive games, but I’m only 90% convinced he is a complete dud.

Danilo fancy name yet when fit Beale picked Dessers before him !!
Jury is still out.

And Sima some wonderous goals squeezed in between him falling over himself and the ball.

This new manager is going to need some magic dust and a lot of luck to get anything out of these guys.

Saw it basically with the entire Celtic team under Rodgers first time round after he took over from Deila as well. Even guys like Biton & Rogic took a while to get going with you.

Sorry but I can't accept you are seriously suggesting taking someone like Kevin Kyle over Dessers.

I'm not sure if I'm not getting my opinion across properly as I'm not defending his performances. I agree on what he has shown so far.

I'm only suggesting that its not unthinkable that with his track record and the feedback from a number of people when we signed him could mean that a new manager with a different system could see us get more out of him.

But actually I do think there have been flashes. You mention the Matondo assist vs PSV, I actually thought he played well that night. He also got the assist for Sima in that game. He's scored 3 goals so far - not saying that's great but there are other strikers mentioned without that return over their entire Rangers career never mind first couple of months.

He's been written off by most and I can understand why. I'm just prepared to see if its an absolute case of him being hopeless and finished at 28 or if he could be useful if utilised differently.

Sima has obvious attributes. He has a good turn on him when the defenders are tight up his backside. He has a great burst of pace. And his finishing stats must be right up there.

But yes - his biggest problem is what to do with the ball at his feet facing up to a defender in a one on one situation. His brain just seems to stop working in that situation and 9 times out of 10 he simply loses control of the ball when trying to dribble.

His other attributes are decent though - he just needs to put it all together. Sima is one of those players who in 5 years time will either be playing for a Premiership team or a Turkish third division team.

I think the fact Danilo came in later than Dessers and Roofe (who knows the squad and the league) got himself fit for the usual three games at the start of the season meant Danilo was being held back a bit. Then when he did play the majority of the time it was coming in from the left of a front three.

I am happy to stick my neck out with Danilo - I think he looks like he will score a decent amount of goals if played through the middle. Hes mobile, seems to find space in the box and can finish. I quite like him.

Downside to all this for us will be the inevitable reaction from the board based on them thinking the league will be all bit done come the January window and we’ll be all but out of Europe come Thursday 10pm.

Meh, we've still got Mikey J and Tilio who'll be like new players. Ditto Rocky, I suppose.
