The sad thing is nowadays. Whether you vote for Labour or Conservative they are basically the same thing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't really know how you can say that after the last 13 years
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I hear what you're saying but scratch under the surface and Labour is really Tory-lite like many have said.
The impact UKIP had on the political scene and with the doomed referendum I think spooked the Tories.
That's why you have zealots like Patel and Braverman who are pathetic human beings who seem to have forgotten their ancestry.
This is before you even start to look at other Tory MP's.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My reference to Patel and Braverman obviously they are not Labour but my point is that extreme and sensationalist policies and statements seem to be the order of the day in the UK now.
Social media has contributed souxh to the downfall of society it's scary.
But the way some of these politicians carry themselves whether they are Labour or Conservative is disgraceful.
Bullying, sexual harrasment, being corrupt it's just one after the other. They have no shame or morals.
There seems to be some sort of scandal every day.
These are the people who are meant to represent and protect us?
Do me a favour.
Sadly, there's every chance the Tories will get another term, especially with the lip smackingly attractive prospect of Suella and then Farage succeeding Rishi. It's a Brexiteer's wet dream.

I'd worry the UK public would give the Tories another term if a more suitable labour candidate was in charge
*By more suitable, I mean someone offering policies that would help to properly combat all the damage caused by the Tory party
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It seems that the Tories may have cottoned on to this by appealing to motorists by publicly slating 20mph roads, LTNs and ULEZ.
I think they may have saved/gained quite a considerable number of votes with these policies alone.
Sadly a large number of the public either have short memories or really are gullible and easily swayed.
Robbsie,
If Labour had have had a different leader than Corbyn they would have probably already been in power.
Will anything ever change and did the UK miss their chance with Jeremy Corbyn
=====
Definitely. And with the UK being so influential globally it was a crossroads and a missed chance for the world as well.
People have very short memories when it comes to general elections and they get mugged off into believing things can actually change. Voting for Keir Starmer basically gets us back to the Gordon Brown days. It’s Tory-lite and when you look at New Labour you’d actually have to conclude that the tories have been in power one way or another ever since 1979
I like Starmer a lot. Seems to want a sensible middle ground. I didn't vote for either major party last election as one was too far right wing and the other left wing for me.
Starmer seems to represent the boring middle ground which I think a lot of the population buy into.
Partridge is bang on about Starmer in that link.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whether you like it or not Jeremy Corbyn was actually proper Labour.
Not this new centralist Tory lite hybrid that exists since Blair.
Starmer seems to represent the boring middle ground which I think a lot of the population buy into.
And here is why this country has decayed massively over the last 20 years.
Exactly and the way politicians and the media went after Corbyn was pathetic.
Starmer is very vanilla but in fairness I don't think any party can be particularly radical in the way they present themselves or their manifestos as we are basically broke right now. We cannot afford radical change. Our personal tax burden is as high as its ever been and most voters priorities have become very personal. Grand plans to revolutionise or centralise X Y or Z or even to save the planet are not so important to many who prioritise their standard of living.
We can expect the Tories to keep things tight over the next 6-9 months so they can step into the election campaign with affordable tax cuts. That is probably not how Labour will be approaching it, more likely to be doing the opposite - so it will become a battle for Middle England who will have to decide whether they want to receive a financial incentive or whether they want to pay for wider improvements for the greater good. IMO
Beige and boring is OK.
I'd rather have someone a bit more left wing as PM but I don't think the UK (England certainly) would be ready for such a radical change so perhaps a softer move would be better all round.
Corbyn had very good domestic policies but his foreign policy was atrocious to be fair. He'd have almost certainly not sent weapons to Ukraine.
He should win but he could be losing the strong Muslim votes Labour used to get in the past

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Corbyn was bad for a lot of people. Very bad for big business, corporates, offshore accounts, bad for media houses, bad for Israel, bad for racists, bad for great replacement theorists etc etc.
If there's one thing that unites these people it's that Corbyn could not have been allowed to be PM.

To whom is he losing this vote to? Muslims would be insane to vote for the Tories.
Whilst I am more l left leaning I also understand that policies need to be acceptable to the majority too and that includes those on the 'losing' side. Loser's consent wasn't really considered during Brexit and that's what made it such a divisive matter.
Imagine the mess this country would be in had we got Corbyn in charge!?!?

I look back quite fondly on their years. Everything seemed pretty good. The Iraq war is the blight of course but, even then, that was voted through in Parliament by a big margin.

By majority I mean all those who didn't vote for the winning party even those that didn't vote at all.
I quite liked Corbyn, for his honesty and integrity more so than his political agenda. He seemed to want genuine change in the political system which is unnecessary.
There are no candidates worth voting for, thus, I probably won't bother.
