Just what competition was this? The BBC don't seem to have acknowledged it on their footy page. Not underestimating the result of course.

Theis disingenuous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
First off, Wolves fielded a complete U21 team bar one who had had first team experience. So all plaudits for the Rams must be taken in that context.
The first half was a bit dull. W threatened not at all and while we did on occasion, their goalie only had to save one effort (apart from the goal.)
The second half was a different matter. Collo's hat trick was a great one as each goal was different - the first a tap in, the second a bullet header and the third an absolute beauty, curled inside the left post from wide on the right. I guess it's right he won MOM but Wilson, esp in the second half, was superb, beating several players at a time with consummate ease and putting in some Ward-like crosses. Of the youngsters, Fatepu and Robinson were outstanding - real prospects. But all those kids who came on were excellent. A particular word for Weston - so quick, skillful and busy. I just wonder if he may be a bit too small for men's footie but you could have probably said the same of Messie when he was a kid.
So while our Academy was decimated during administration it looks as though we are back in business.

He didn't end-up tall either. I really don't get this fascination with 'he's not big enough', particularly for strikers. It's complete bollox.

Dave Mackay might be a better example, and Frannie Lee if we allow English strikers a mention!
Good point. I was limiting the discussion to ex St Mirren players really.
Re Ang's comment I had expected Wolves to include a few from their main squad but I guess that's not allowed?

I think their keeper was overage but the whole point is to give the kids some bigger match experience.

Willy Carlin and Archie Gemmill were the two shortest players in the league. Carlin is about half an inch shorter than Archie (who is 5' 5" in Cuban heels).
I remember these stats from a full page colour photograph in the Shoot magazine back in the day (and proudly stuck to the bedroom wall).
