i actually hate watching us in the champions league now.

quality isn't there and the manager is quite frankly a fvcking moron at this level.

mcgregor has went backward big time, i'd hook him from that holding role cause he certainly isn't good enough for it at that level.

pathetic transfer window and a manager who's never going to help us compete.

"disnae have the players"

strachan done it with some amount of schite, no having it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Strachan was smart enough to have some older, wiser, seasoned pros in his squad.. Not sure the board would allow that anymore.

this isn't a first under rodgers, we have been regularly skelped in europe under his managment.

10 men 2 goals down and he goes 2 up top, then brings on a bunch of boys in what i can only assume is a move of pure petulance.

another embarrassing scoreline.

Not excusing Rodgers in any way but the result would not have been any different under Ange. You only have to look at Ange's tactics when down to 9 men against Chelsea on Monday. We're just miles off it at CL level and to be honest we're always going to be the whipping boys as long as the Board are happy to take the CL money and not reinvest properly in the team. It might be a good business model to buy players for £2m and then sell for huge profits but my God it makes watching us in the CL an absolute embarrasment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We never got embarrassed like that in the last two years.

We did under Rodgers previously.

On more than one occasion.

Lowest common denominator.

Also transfer fees are only a tiny part of it in modern football and mostly irrelevant.

It's all about wages and that's where the low Scottish revenue cripples us and Rangers.

We can't offer the same wage package as clubs in leagues above us (of which there are many financially).

Couple that with our location and it's no surprise that even clubs with a similar wage budget are able to attract higher calibre players for a couple of seasons.

Joe Hart is a joke. He's no even in the top 5 keepers in our league. He has cost us in almost every European tie.

Mcgregor has been awful all season. People keep talking about all the 'unseen' work he does. I don't see any it it but based on what I do see, he's a journeyman at the moment.

To do anything in Europe, we need McGregor, Hatate and O'Riley at their very best and that never happens.

Having said that, we've been pretty good this season until last night.

Tbf to McGregor what he was great at the last two seasons has been coached out of the team.

He's basically just a jersey now. When you're coached to just pass it sideways as a no.6 then you're nothing but a basic defensive midfielder, which doesn't suit McGregor.

When's the last time you saw him collect the ball deep from the CBs, do a quick 180⁰ turn and look to get it forward to Hatate/O'Riley? He doesn't anymore, it's to the wide players (who sit much deeper) or back to the CBs it goes.

=========

it's time people admit it.

i watched scales fire two balls over the top against county and thought why isn't mcgregor doing that and picking out kyogos runs.

Hart was old when we signed him and he is older now. i actually thought he made a few decent saves last night but he's too slow to react for the first after mcgregors absurd header, and with one of the last goals he was actually standing way behind the line.

a transfer window in which we achieved nothing.

Last night was quite depressing

But when i seen David Turnbull coming on , i thought we had a wee chance

mad to me that anyone expected anything different that rodgers first go at celtic.

actually had fans thinking he was going to make an impact in europe, like he hadn't been schite before.

his tactics are phish and his football is boring.

McGregor isn’t having a good season by his standards, but we’ve got bigger problems than that.

Everyone knew we needed a new goalie and left back in the summer. AJ looks out his depth, O’Riley is a cracking player but he’s been hit and miss for a few weeks now. Palma is slow and Maeda lacks any technical ability. We’re not using Kyogo properly either. CCV and probably Scales scraped pass marks last night.

Barnardo doesn’t contribute enough and Turnbull is too one paced and one footed.

Then there’s the rest of the squad…

I thought Rodgers’ tactics in the previous 3 games was an improvement on his previous tenure. Our squad is weaker than last season, but he’s got an horrendous record in the CL and takes more than his share of the blame for that.

he fired a bunch of subs on last night and lost all control on the park.

that was the difference between being beaten and being embarrassed.

YB went down to 10 men against the european champions, and lost 3-0.

Even Gerrard knew how to set up to be a working unit in europe, we looked all over the place.

the amount of times i watched mcgregor point for a player to press another man in an "i've got him, you go there" manner, while the guy he supposedly had ran off him was a joke.

it's not an improvement, it's a step back, in every department.

Granted that Celtic was down to 10, but did anyone expect a different outcome? Sadly, Scottish teams have proven that the Scottish PL is sub-par and has been for many years! This issue needs to be addressed or many more humiliations are in the future.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There hasn’t been a lot of thought put into this post. Either that or the intended message has been lost in translation.

Yes we did expect a different outcome. We don’t expect players will be sent off on the basis of a single (and misleading) camera angle. We were doing ok until then.

Did we expect to win? Of course not. But 6-0, whisky many might have wished for it; it wasn’t expected.

Anyways.

Well that was fun ☹️

These past few years I see these trips as having a laugh with my sons and my mates.

Nothing is ever expected, but that was a horror show. Hey ho. Aberdeen on Sunday
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We'll remember the trip and the good laughs much longer than the result
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely.

And good to catch up

After the Maeda red, I switched off. I've seen this pash too many times. i actilually said as soon as the red came out, we'd get beat five nil. Not a chance an Athletico player would have been sent off for the same tackle.

We're fvcking cursed in Europe.

He's been whank in Europe with three clubs.

Said at the start of the season I expected nothing less again this season but hoped we might scrape into the EL. That looks an impossibility now.

The game is played around him rather than through him these days. Mental to see how ineffective he is now.

comment by Silver (U6112)

posted on 8/11/23

No, what is mental is people jumping on our best player because his form is maybe not where we have seen it before irrespective the other dynamics of the team personnel.

Mental thinking that a cdm role is to do 180s and high risk losing the ball in a critical area.

Mental thinking that long straight balls is our way of playing or a successful way to win.

Enjoy your miserable day.
