Should be a 74 point deduction for City then for the next 115 years. 74 point deduction gives them a chance at least to avoid relegation as they can get to 40 points.

I'd still make them favourites for the title

City's is far more complicated. Secret payments etc are much harder to prove than an assessment of a clubs published financial accounts
I’d wager Everton will stay up this season even if it was -20
I can’t see one of Luton, Sheff U or Burnley reaching 20 points and I fancy Everton to get 40 plus

Not sure why Liverpool fans are gloating.
Having Everton in the PL is a guaranteed 4-6 points for Liverpool every season.

wait till we get hit with our points deduction, they won't be laughing then
The biggest punishment for City is that Pep said he'd walk if they are found guilty.
How do you replace him? It's impossible.
Stan Kroenke got so much grief for repeatedly denying Farhad Moshiri and Alisher Usmanov a seat on the Arsenal board.
Massive bullet dodged, all things considered.

Punishing Everton like this doesn't affect the PL brand.
Punishing City and Chelsea will do so, however.
Less likely that either of those will be found guilty because of this.
All about the money.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you are wrong about this. EFC broke FFP rules. I believe they tried to pass off some costs on to the covid impact and stadium but not justifiably, so were in breach.
City & Chelsea have, allegedly, made undisclosed payments to keep their FFP figures compliant. It's 2 offences, with the actual breach of FFP being the more minor of the 2.
Breaching FFP like EFC have is one thing. To lie and hide costs to make it look as if you have complied is a larger offence and one that undermines integrity far more IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't disagree.
My thinking is more about the standings of the clubs in terms of the PL.
It's easier to punish a club like Everton because in terms of PL reputation, it wouldn't have that much of an impact because Everton aren't that much of a high profile club.
City and Chelsea are a different matter. They've been at the forefront of the PL in terms of standing and trophies for quite a number of years and have more of a worldwide appeal.
Punishing these 2 teams heavily will impact massively on the overall reputation of the PL.
Can't have the self styled 'Best League in the World' being seen to be so corrupt. It would make a mockery of the integrity of the league (although you probably could make that call now, tbf), to have these serial PL winner have only done so through cheating.
Money talks, and I think even though they will have cheated - if found guilty - it would be more damaging for the PL going forward to heavily punish these teams than it would be to say 'ok, here's a slap on the wrist, don't do it again.', or even the unbelievable 'nothing to see here, both clubs are completely innocent and just misunderstood.'
Protectionism of the PL product will win out i think sadly.
