Probably means confidence in terms of not wanting to get involved. A confident player makes things happen.

Newcastle have loads out and still manage to play at their highest level. Our players just suck

I get that but not bothering to run to track back is not a lack of confidence is it?

Out of form players I get, but usually they run harder and it's usually that extra touch in front of goal or mistimed tackles that shows a lack of confidence

Just standing there watching isn't lack of confidence it's lack of bothered

We don’t have enough time with the ball… every team out there can see we can’t keep possession.
It’s mostly one touch blind passing. Ball is getting played into spaces where there’s no chance to get it.
Not working as a unit.

That’s either lack of quality, execution, or just cowardly.

I get that. Just perhaps a reason for him 'hiding'. Trying hard should be the minimum requirement. Even if you're not playing well at least make it difficult for the other team to play well.
