Eth. A simple poll part 2.

I'm definitely in ETH camp and have been for a month.

I just think it's important we let Jim's team make the decision so he can stay for a few weeks / months as yet for all I care. The season is over anyway.

If he starts as manager next season it will be an absolute embarrassment.

Not necessarily. Clubs are far too quick to get rid of managers, admittedly decent progress or progress of some kind is required, which isn’t exactly overly evident in this case. But still.

Although my explanation underneath made that pretty clear.

So more falling out with players, more Onana and Antony and more crap football?

Great news 🙃

Thankfully I live in the real world and there's no chance he survives this season and gets a 3rd.

I'm not in either camp particularly. I can't help but be struck but how poor some of our players are, particularly in the final third of the pitch.

There are some tactical tweaks that could improve us I think and some personnel changes (some of which are currently being influenced by injury) could be better, but it remains the case that the quality just isn't there. Our best three players at the moment are kids; Garnacho, Mainoo & Hojlund, plus Amrabat (loan) and Maguire (was halfway out the door in the summer!).

There's still a massive amount of work to do to get the squad looking stronger across the board and until we address the recruitment issue then I can't see any manager being able to sustain any level of success beyond the initial honeymoon period.

Ok his signings especially the clown goalkeeper have been mostly miss. But he got Dan go spot on, Ronaldo possibly too. Facked it up with ddg given who we’ve got now, but his hard line is arguably what we need with this bunch of pansies.

Giving rat boy captaincy in hindsight east a great plan

fair

Personally I didn't want him sacked but now leaning towards the out camp. No excuses for that today.

He has to go. He's absolutely clueless

posted on 9/12/23

He's fecked it with more than just signings.

Players aren't buying into him at all. Injuries have been insane too so maybe the training methods are poor? Maybe the leakers (snakes that they may be) actually have a point there? Although going to the press about it isn't right obviously.

He's just not good enough. Rashford in the form of his life for 5months has actually papered over gigantic cracks in this manager. That's pretty clear now.

I will be serious.

How many managers have you been through? Have they been any good?

The answer is far too many managers and yes, they have been very good managers.

So, it would appear to NOT be the managers, so if that is the case why change? Wouldn't it be better to eject 7, 8, 9 of your players and rebuild PROPERLY???

Given I can’t vote in my own article, I assume you mean one star from you, unless all those giant buuttplugs you play with have finally gone all the way up to your brain and are making you a bit dotty?

Just to add... If we had a competent recruitment and footballing operation, we wouldn't have to lean on the manager's recommendations for signings. We signed ETH to coach the team. We didn't sign him to be head of recruitment or as chief scout. For me, any poor signings on his watch are primarily the fault of the club and lay at the door the owners for their total inability to put in place a competent footballing/recruitment operation.

I think Onana and Antony are outright poor, but if you need a RW and GK and you go to your new manager and ask him if he has any ideas, who are we expecting him to suggest? Our inability to shift deadwood is also a massive burden on any manager, as ultimately they have to manage a squad with duds and baggage and the dressing room issues that will inevitably cause.

I am not fussed whether he gets the sack or not but I do think it will be idiotic to sack him until we sort out Murtough and his department.

Absolutely spot on here VC. Allowing dumb and dumber to appoint someone else is pointless.

Let Jimbo send him packing. Even if that's in the new year. We can't really salvage this season anyway. Not with this squad.

It’s an interesting point on modern footy there. You’d expect a manager to have a big say on who’s signed, but as you point out a lot of the time it’s left to teams of analysts to find the player, and assess suitability. In a system with good analysts who understand the managers requirements that works. However, it is taking a slight step away from the managers own vision and assessments somewhat.
