Its a funny old season to be honest.
Celtic were so dominant last season it is amazing to see how disgruntled the fans seem to be despite still having a decent lead at the top of the league.
The context to that is that we have obviously been poor this season and our expensive summer recruitment so bad that we had to end up sacking our manager by early october. So Celtic should be WELL out of sight at this stage.
However Celtic look like they are now stumbling and another couple of knocks could (hopefully!) lead to a bit of a collapse and a full blown crisis.
Unfortunately Rangers are in no position to deliver those blows - we still have the poor quality recruits Beale left us with and we have horrific problems with injuries - as we have had all season.
As it stands the OF are like two pashed up jakeys fighting to see who can stay standing the longest so they can get to January when hopefully they can sober up a bit and get some new players in and others come back from injury.
i've watched rangers a few times and thought you looked a bit phish still.
i think we are worse under rodgers though, we can't defend, we can't attack, we just sit holding the ball in midfield as if possession is the one and only factor in winning games.
we're not fluid, we're not solid. i'd love to know what we do in training.
also for a team built on possession football, we crumble when pressed.

And another thing... Why is McCarthy still in the squad? That is unbelievable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
2 reasons....
1. If you were Mccarthy would you leave to earn less at the end of your career?
2. If you were a manager would you want to sign Mccarthy and pay him the wages he earns at Celtic?

There simply has to be some kinda agreement or somebody owed someone, cos that deal was utter madness. I refuse to believe that was any manager, DOF, scouting team idea to sign him on big wages for 4 years was it?

'a bit phish' is a fairly glowing endorsement of Phils work considering we were 'dire' under Beale.
I dont think Rangers fans are kidding themselves on we are anywhere near the finished article yet.
We desperately needed a rebuild (particularly in the final third) going into this season and all the cash was spent on;
Lammers - Dud
Danilio - decent at times but the jury is still out
Dessers - Spectacularly bad
Sima - great return from him so far
Dowell - nowhere to be seen
Sterling - a few unspectacular cameos here and there
Butland - Excellent
Cifuentes - decent MLS player apparently
I think its a lot to expect Clement to turn guys like Dessers and Lammers into players. Plus he has had ridiculous injuries to contend with.
We have looked more organised, more forward thinking, more energetic and more together as a team I would say since clement came in. Not a massive step change and not consistently so but the signs have been there.
Baby steps but if we can grind out a cup win (not fussed about thursday tbh) and as a minimum keep the gap as it is going into the OF game then I will be delighted.
That has to be some evidence that Clement has something about him and that we are heading in a decent direction.
The big test will then be his recruitment....

TBF there's a wide range of numbers out there what he is on. I never believed the £40k because it would have broken the very tight wage structure. Throw in that he's an ageing cripple and the board's legendary parsimony...
