As per my recent article, I would actually give most folk a chance - there is just no telling who will turn out to be the right choice.

On paper - ETH looked to be a great choice, but it's simply not working out. There is no scientific formula for picking a top manager - a select few are just cut out for it, the vast majority are not.

Sam Allardyce for me. It would be worth it to see a manager give our players an absolute b0110cking from the side of the pitch.

Good choice as good as any
At least his team has a style of play and are nice to watch
There’s no ego hand slapping either
Actually keep ETH as we love him 🤣

Whilst I sense this is a jokey comment he probably would do better with what we have available at present by just going back to basics. I still don't think we've seen the full Ten Hag ceiling though due to the horrendous injuries we've had. Not making excuses because we should still be doing better with what we have but the likes of Klopp even have struggled when missing key players (in 2021 without VVD they really struggled in defence, by playing midfielders in there, until he realised it was better to keep it simple).

That isn't really a reason is it.

"This manager MUST leave now, so let's appoint someone, anyone. How about this guy? He's not proven he can handle it in any way, shape or form, but he has just won back to back games 5-0"

Why? I would rather give Ten Hag than rush into a choice like this

You don’t think 12 losses by December ( with likely a couple more before the end of the year) and records broken every week and players clearly not playing for the manager is grounds for trying someone else?

I don't think its grounds for giving the job to Marco Silva or Ole, no.

You’d better get used to seeing us lose most weeks then.

It must do more harm than good to keep ETH in a job if the players aren't truly with him. No good for ETH, the players or the club as a whole. I actually think it would be a relief to ETH to get out of that role.

There is no magic, perfect solution. I think ETH was an example where on paper, it looked great, but it just hasn't worked out. It may well be that we need another interim whilst we work out who we want / is available. And we all know that even then , the next manager may not work out. But we still need to make that initial decision, rather than just prolonging the agony from week to week

I have a sneaking suspicion that Sancho might actually thrive under a different manager.

Nope. Sancho isn't mentally strong enough to deal with the reception he'll get if he sets foot on OT again.

I agree he’ll be booed but I reckon if he starts scoring goals and looks good under a new manager people will forgive and forget fairly quickly

If / when a new manager comes in, I guess it's clean slate time and everyone gets a chance. Football is a fickle business - fate could have it that Sancho stays and ETH goes, and Sancho starts performing for us again - I'm not saying it will defo happen, but you couldn't rule it out

Big if.

What's far more likely to happen (if he doesn't leave) is that he comes on as a sub a few times, gets booed, does fack all, throws a strop and doesn't play again.

Possibly but maybe under the Silva regime we have a dynamite front three of Toney, Sancho and Garnacho scoring 2/3 goals a game.

Hey, could happen 🥲

If only Everton had stuck with Silva when he had that "bump" in his second season
