Good to know you are a cuck. When can I come over?

I see it as being similar to the Hundred in cricket - superfluous, Americanised crap that will digest about as well as a Big Mac with extra in imitation cheese

A closed shop for the bigger clubs in the long run.

Promotion and relegation, how can it be a closed shop

The Premier League have already imposed suspended penalties against the would-be breakaway clubs. The fans would oppose too.

However, I envisage the oil nations creating new clubs (London City, West Midlands FC etc) and players jumping ship.

Money talks.

No real jeopardy for any "big" club once they make it into the top two tiers. Might as well play the kids in their respective national leagues and end up in 17th place, as long as they don't end up among the bottom two sides in their Super League group.

Nothing compared to the 3rd level where 20 out of a possible 32 clubs get shipped in and out every season.

It would just signal the start of the deterioration of the football we are used to though wouldn't it? It sets a precedent, for good or bad. Like in your analogy it would signal the beginning of the end of the marriage (probably).

But maybe some sort of change is inevitable whether we like it or not.

Saw a comment on X which I agree with. The EPL is the Superleague.

We have the most income and revenues. We should be calling the shots.

wouldnt that have been the argument when they conceived the european cup, then the champ league/europa etc.

As long as they get rid of the whole this or that team cannot be relegated then it wont be that much different to what we have or are about to have.

And as the above poster said and I have said many times on here.

the EPL is essentially the super league at the moment.

its more lucrative to stay in the EPL than it is to win the champ league.

I see Man United have become the first Ebglish team to come out and state they won't be taking part in any unofficial European competitions going forward.

Or any official ones either, just to be safe.
