Ronnie looked shaky in 1995/96, 1998/99, 2005-2007 and 2009-2011. Even by 2016/17 his ranking total was quite disappointing.
Maybe if he had dominated more earlier in his career, he might’ve ended up like Henry or Davis or the thought of Ronnie winning would be boring and he wouldn’t have been as popular.
He's getting the numbers now his talent deserves, I'll be happy with 8-8-8, that world championship would retire Ronnie I think... No one is getting close to those records
I think there were so many instances pre 'Steve Peters' where Ronnie obviously wasn't enjoying the game and it showed and he didn't really understand / appreciate his demons etc. In terms of tournament wins, he's been able to be more focused and have the consistency which was previously missing, without mentally being a Hendry or Davis.
I can't lie, some of his interviews still do my nut in, the greatest player, but not exactly a great ambassador for the sport. But watching him play is the greatest sight in snooker - it's the tricky shots and medium length pots that he makes look so easy, like a computer game
