There is absolutely no way City would let you use the Etihad

City dont own the City of Manchester Stadium. Manchester City Council do. So sharing it with United for a while would be negotiated with them.

The money Jim is allocating to fix up OT and Carrington is pin money compared to other revamps like Camp Nou, Real Madrid, Munich etc. So a new stadium isnt even a starter. We dont need a new stadium anyway. We have Old Trafford. Just fix it up and make the match day experience much better. It needs screens for sure and a posher foyer where the players gather to walk out into the pitch. Atm it resembles a sports centre there. We dont need more seats. Just better seating and stairs and concourse facilities. Jim would have to stump up a couple of billion for a rebuild.

New stadium.

I love OT but the best you can do with it now is bring it up to a second tier stadium, relatively speaking.

posted on 28/12/23

If it's feasible to upgrade and expand the existing stadium, that's my preference. OT has character. It's distinctive. Very few modern stadiums, even the most beautifully designed ones, possess that. In addition, repurposing and updating industrial-era architecture is such a Manchester thing. For me, it feels like the perfect thing to do. However, ultimately that comes down to costs and feasibility, which are accounting and engineering details well above my pay grade, and I won't throw my toys about if it's just not doable.

I remember lots of people being angry at Wembley being demolished and rebuilt because of its history. No one gives a sh-t now, people just like to moan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Wembley was iconic but it was also objectively a really bad football stadium, with the running track etc.

If we redevelop OT we’ll need to prepare for a few years where we don’t win anything with all the uncertainty…

should have started this 10 years ago

So?

City have 100% control over its usage and get 100% of the revenue for football and events staged there.

It was funded by national and local public money. Ground sharing would be a conversation that MUFC would have with MCC who in turn would have to have conversation with MCFC regarding their lease agreemnt.

You don't even own the Etihad. You have a 100 year
lease don't you? It's owned by the council so I'm not sure you could stop it.

It won't happen anyway. It's too small for us. 😂

Redevelop for me.

I like the fact it has its own unique look and character. As long as it's safe and has all the facilities you'd expect that's enough IMO. It should be a stadium that gives us the best chance of winning rather than somewhere Taylor Swift can play. I'd rather spend on the very best training centre/facilities for the players.

What part of that statement are you struggling with?

City pay the Council £3m a year for that exclusive control.

Perhaps you could ask one of the north London clubs for a temporary share,it would suit a lot of your fan's travel wise 😊

We don't want to use the council house anyway Boris. It's stained with corruption and cheating and it isn't big enough for the biggest football club in England.

We will rebuild and have a 90,000 seater eventually on same site.

Tbh can Utd go down the Madrid route? I think that’s probably the best example, retained the stadium but at the same time the renovations are world class
