I think that given they’ll be focusing mainly on restructuring things behind the scenes ahead of the summer, that getting a new manager in at this stage won’t be high on the agenda. But that probably won’t mean much if the Glazers exert their influence and we sack him and get an interim.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When you spend 1.5 billion there is no escaping the immediate, they will be looking at ETH very closely, association with failure is not an option, that’s not to say they won’t give immediate support and look at the whole picture but for the manager there are certain basic expectations and standards.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The immediate isn’t all that important when you are making long term investments and trying to make significant changes to address long term issues. Watch the January transfer window, where they’ll be doing fack all for a similar reason.

I wonder who the Ineos plant on this forum will be
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The poster called Sir Jim. Though I’m not sure who at ineos he is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a devilishly subtle login name, you have to say.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tough one to crack, thought it might be saville, but realised he doesn’t work for ineos. Any ideas?

I have it on good authority Hafi works in Ineos IT

But he never looked like getting it right. Mourinho, Tuchel, Ancelotti etc had some success before the inevitable happened. Potter was more like Villas-Boas.

I have nothing against Potter and have a feeling he might be a decent England manager one day but I think the challenge of a big club with a difficult dressing room just isn't for him, at least not at the moment. We'd probably score even fewer goals as well.

Good question Robb, who indeed
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Might be MU52

Elderly guy, lives in France, done loads of articles confirming he knows about older United players. Nice to everyone and when he sacks Ten Hag he’ll never be suspected …

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Non of us can know yet what Jim will be thinking he has watched it all just the same as we have, his team will be reading forums and looking for the general opinion to coincide with their own.

At the minute this is failure the question is where they lay the blame for the failure, I think there are divisions in the squad and ETH is struggling with it, I don’t think his downfall will be the immediate results but his man management handling ego driven top stars which is a requisite of any Manchester United manager plus understanding on recruitment the level of player needed to move forward which isn’t dubious Dutch league signings at huge inflated cost.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If you ask a coach he'll always recommend players he's worked with, why wouldn't he? The exorbitant price hikes were nothing to do with Eth, suggesting otherwise is nonsensical, it's all on Murtaugh et al and the board for signing it off.

What many are struggling to accept is how we've gone from the general highs of last season to mediocrity this term. However, the patterns of inconsistency is nothing new, we've seen it all before, it usually follows with a managerial change then a sudden upsurge in performance. Too many egos, bad egos, call it what you like at the club. The culture is such that even Pep would fail!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps but they’re two different sets of players. Every dressing room has its own personality and we just don’t know if what Potter is preaching is what can be sold to our dressing room. I’m sure there will be a thorough interview process with a big presentation and hopefully the new football recruitment team can find a round peg for a round hole based on what they know our players will respond to.

To be clear - I’m not making Potter my new obsession. I’m sure there are other, better options out there but he’s available and plays good football and may just be a canny choice.

Why should Eth justify or apologise for something the club saw fit to reward him with? Doesn't the success of last season alone give him at least one more season of immunity?!

I think a lot of people appearing aggrieved need to reassess their expectations versus reality matrix! He's a coach not a miracle worker!
