That's like a darts player playing two matches in 24 hours like they are tonight. It's not the same as outfield players.

This.

Furthermore, he’s not exactly the second coming of Edwin Van der Schmeichel; we’ve got way bigger problems.

Sorry I think I misinterpreted the OP.

Good or bad he is our number one keeper so why shouldn’t ETH play him? We pay him, he originally wasn’t going to play in the AFCON.

Fair deal.

Why was he not gonna play AFCON? Was it a condition for United buying him?

He fell out with the manager during the WC and left the squad because he wanted Onana to play it long which he refused to do. They’ve since made up which is why he’s back in the team.

Cos he’s crap?! ETH is well within his right to do this, it’s daft, but it’s up to him, Onana and Cameroon.

Wow. So Onana is not just a crap keeper he's also a caaant

When I look at the way Onana plays, I don't see a goalkeeper who's off form or lost confidence. I see a goalkeeper who just doesn't seem to have the technical goalkeeping skills. When he makes semi-spectacular saves, it's usually because he was in the wrong position to start with. He doesn't control his box well. His diving seems clumsy and even his distribution isn't all that good. It's mind blowing how he's ever been thought of as a strong keeper.

I don’t think he’s that bad at controlling his box, Tbf. The rest is certainly debatable though, he certainly is very unorthodox and often does look out of position.

I know these days most goalies tend to parry or punch, but Onana doesn't seem capable of catching the simplest of balls. His technical positioning is also iffy. Sure, his distribution is decent, but first and foremost, I want our goalie to be strong at what the job implies
