Every cloud and all that ...
Paulo Sergio's comments when Silva joined us
"In my opinion, he is a good striker but he’s better when he has a partner up top by his side. He’s not what you’d call an out and out No9 in my view. But he has good skills, can score goals and I think he can help this Rangers team. He’s more of a second striker. His characteristics aren’t the type to stand there alone up front. He needs the freedom to make his movements, which are very good around the box, so that’s why I think he’s better with a proper No9 beside him."
We play a system with one lone striker in the middle...we don't play a strike partnership
Can keep saying I'm judging him.on this and that...I'm formulating my opinion what I've seen, what the guy has said about himself and what others have also said
He ain't a number 9

Still got a feeling you'll get Shankland in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that'll happen as well. What benefit is it to Hearts to lose him for nowt in the summer, when they can get something for him now? They're finishing 3rd regardless, and ain't winning the SC with or without him.

“I don't like to stay in the box only and be 'No.9'. I like to change positions, have connections with players, play one-twos and move deep."

The club is looking to get in another striker...and if we bring one in, that'll say enough for me about how much of a goalscorer we really think Silva will be
Shankland and Silva are completely different players
He's clearly a number 9.
He's played there his whole career, now is he the kind of number 9 you want maybe not.
But he's a 9. A centre forward, he doesn't seem himself as a only a 9 because he can link up outside the box but first and foremost he's a centre forward as his career history shows us. Cheers
There has been nothing credible to say Clement is interested in Shankland.
No bid, no concrete discussions. Half our fanbase convinced themselves he was the answer and that's kept it in the media for a month.
As far as I've seen we've not made any move or even any real noise for any centre forward since Silva came in.

Kris Boyd was a penalty box striker, Walter Smith tried to get him to improve his work outside the box, improve his linkup play, but Boyd always had that goalscoring ability, he was an excellent finisher
Shankland has that, he scores goals...the fact Naismith and Hearts are trying to get him to do other things over and above that, doesn't take away the fact that the guy knows where the goal is, and given a chance in and around the box, he will score
Silva seems to be the opposite....he has good technical ability, he will link up the play, bring others into the game and drop deep to get on the ball
...that's all well and good, but first and foremost given the amount of chances Dessers has missed, given the old firm results and lack of goals from our attacking players in those fixtures, and given the few chances we will get against too teams in Europe....we don't need a well rounded forward that can do all the good work in and around the box but is hit and miss when it comes to taking chances....we need a finisher
