I would be tempted to play both. We could do what Liverpool did and put a player who was crap at right back into midfield and then call him amazing for kicking the ball out for throw ins. Dalot probably not the best at defending so put him in midfield and just need to teach him to launch the ball out of play as he already knows how to not defend like TAA.
I've never been a fan of either tbh, but both have really improved over the last couple of seasons.
If I had to pick one I'd go with Dalot - I feel right now many of our fans underrate him. In reality both are probably about the level we want our second choice to be at. Maybe slightly above that.
Both are better than Shaw.
I'd personally have Dalot at LB
I'd say both are incomplete players but offer certain qualities the other lacks. AWB isn't the world's finest passer, can be quite sloppy, and prone to switching off to danger at the back post. Dalot isn't an elite defender or an elite attacking full back. AWB is elite as a one vs one defender, can be quite tricky to dispossess, thanks to being able to poke the ball out of reach with those long legs, and he has obviously worked on his game in the attacking third. Dalot is, behind Martinez and Shaw, the third best defender in our squad when it comes to technical security and passing, which means he's significantly the better option in terms of contributing to ball progression, and a much better option if we need a full back to tuck into midfield. He has also grown better as a defender with experience and physical maturity.
I like them both as players; there's scope to upgrade on both though.

What? Are you talking about the right player here?
Both a pretty crap. I think it’s a case of horses for courses. Dalot tends to look better at left back I think, but he’s just miles behind Shaw so won’t be starting the regularly. Might be worth getting rid of Malacia, keeping Dalot as a back up for the left and right and bringing in a good right back this summer.

I am. Those silly little dinks into midfield that regularly get mopped up by the opposing midfield.
We need a better right back than both imo. But if they are the options then I’d just rotate based on the opposition. If we are playing a side who are going to have most of the ball and/or attack us down the wings (their left particularly) then AWB all day, but if we are playing a team who are going to sit in then id play Dalot.

Could easily be the worst take in ja606 history this comment.
Luke Shaw is light years ahead of both of them.
Both are pretty useless, don’t think any club trying to fight for titles would have either anywhere near their starting XI. I still can’t believe that the club supposedly scouted thousands of RBs and came to the conclusion that AWB was the answer.

I’m not so sure. AWB is certainly the better one on one defender. However, he’s also more prone to being out of position or a lapse of concentration, so against a team who dominate possession I actually think he’s a worse option than Dalot.

So, so sum up:
Both are better than Shaw but pretty crap players who may be OK as squad players in a side looking to win titles.

They both lack concentration and leave their man open far too often. I'm told Dalot can cross but I rarely if ever see it, I see over hit crosses or balls into the box that just aren't that good. AWB is rubbish offensively yet he still seems to be better at moving the ball forward and you occassionally see some quick short passing between him and the winger in front, not that it seems to go anywhere.
The problem with this club is we buy players that aren't that good and aren't ever likely to be good enough, Antony is another example (and a very expensive one at that). We try and make excuses (with Antony it was that he gives us better shape and tries) but ultimately they're just not good enough and the club will fail to improve with them still here.

Didn't United win the league with Alex Buttner as a LB in the squad? Dalot can be a useful squad player same with AWB. I agree if United wanted to win titles then both are not good enough based on what we've seen so far.
I think one of our main issues is that we have a lot of OK players who'd be fine if we had really top class players in other positions.
At present we're not really much better than a squad full of squad players.
I really don't think it's an exaggeration to state that the only player who'd we pretty much unanimously agree should be in our best XI is Shaw.
Three PL clubs interested in Che Adams. Watch this space...
Dalot's versatility is useful and he's actually fared a lot better than Shaw typically has recently when it comes to defending against inverted RW's. He has a worldie in his locker on occasion too and a deceptive turn of pace.
We need a really outstanding RB, probably replacing AWB of the two, with Dalot taking on cover duties on both sides.
