I think it was a foul on Garnacho. The ref gave a free kick to Richarlison for pretty much the same foul.
As for Ten Hag well I would like to see the Ajax version with him under competent football people above him. However, I don't think anybody could really have an argument if he was sacked now/end of the season.

As for Ten Hag well I would like to see the Ajax version with him under competent football people above him. However, I don't think anybody could really have an argument if he was sacked now/end of the season.

Total neutral, and really enjoyed the game as one. I think Utd DO have a discernible style of play though, albeit not a stylish one. Pretty limited really. Sit deep, hope to nick possession, then (more often than not) instantly attempt a Hollywood ball over the top to release one of the pacy front 3. It can obviously work, but feck me it’s pretty rudimentary, isn’t it?

I think most people are just parroting the pundits about the "moments" thing.. Most teams try to get the ball up to their most dangerous players and hope a bit of magic happens in the final third.
I can understand the counter attacking set up we play against teams that play a high line, it makes sense, especially on the back of Rashford's last season.
As you say though, it is rudimentary and relies heavily on the form of the attackers. It also leaves holes in our midfield that get exploited time and again.

Main pluses for me were Hojlund and Mainoo. Glad that Hojlund got on the score sheet and made another after his horror show in the cup. That will do him the world of good.
Mainoo continues to impress. I love how calm and in control he is for a lad his age. I'd really like to see him playing alongside Cas with Bruno ahead of them. I think that they would give each other the confidence to push forwards safe in the knowledge that the other will cover and give us defensive stability when the opposition have the ball. Martinez back and playing in behind them should really help too.
The main downside was our defensive fragility and lack of control in midfield. We just get overrun at times. And our defending at set pieces is a joke.

Arent pundits are supposed to be the been ther done that experts when it comes to football annalysis?
I remember a creative England player once saying in an interview back in the day that when he was being prepared to come on as a sub by the then manager (Graham Taylor) Taylor told him that he had instructed the rest of the players to get the ball to him as soon as possible. He replyed to Taylor 'then what do you want me to do, boss'? to which he replied, 'You know, just do your thing that you do!
Ive played football at my level with some good players who I looked up to, under a couple of good managers. But we never went into a game without instruction and just a hope that something good might happen if we got the ball to themore creative players.
This is how schoolyard and pub football works.
Of course they are coached... told the opposition weaknesses etc (which i thought we did well to expose, yesterday).
But it's not like Pep is spending hours a day coaching Haaland on every conceivable situation, because he trusts his attacking skills... To paraphrase something Pep once said "It's my job to help you get the ball to the final third, then it's on you".

I think it was a foul on Garnacho. The ref gave a free kick to Richarlison for pretty much the same foul.
As for Ten Hag well I would like to see the Ajax version with him under competent football people above him. However, I don't think anybody could really have an argument if he was sacked now/end of the season.
To me is seems at present we're just waiting until CL qualification isn't possible before he goes. Perhaps there's something in his contract about that which makes him cheaper to fire.

Total neutral, and really enjoyed the game as one. I think Utd DO have a discernible style of play though, albeit not a stylish one. Pretty limited really. Sit deep, hope to nick possession, then (more often than not) instantly attempt a Hollywood ball over the top to release one of the pacy front 3. It can obviously work, but feck me it’s pretty rudimentary, isn’t it?

I think most people are just parroting the pundits about the "moments" thing.. Most teams try to get the ball up to their most dangerous players and hope a bit of magic happens in the final third.
I can understand the counter attacking set up we play against teams that play a high line, it makes sense, especially on the back of Rashford's last season.
As you say though, it is rudimentary and relies heavily on the form of the attackers. It also leaves holes in our midfield that get exploited time and again.

Main pluses for me were Hojlund and Mainoo. Glad that Hojlund got on the score sheet and made another after his horror show in the cup. That will do him the world of good.
Mainoo continues to impress. I love how calm and in control he is for a lad his age. I'd really like to see him playing alongside Cas with Bruno ahead of them. I think that they would give each other the confidence to push forwards safe in the knowledge that the other will cover and give us defensive stability when the opposition have the ball. Martinez back and playing in behind them should really help too.
The main downside was our defensive fragility and lack of control in midfield. We just get overrun at times. And our defending at set pieces is a joke.

Arent pundits are supposed to be the been ther done that experts when it comes to football annalysis?
I remember a creative England player once saying in an interview back in the day that when he was being prepared to come on as a sub by the then manager (Graham Taylor) Taylor told him that he had instructed the rest of the players to get the ball to him as soon as possible. He replyed to Taylor 'then what do you want me to do, boss'? to which he replied, 'You know, just do your thing that you do!
Ive played football at my level with some good players who I looked up to, under a couple of good managers. But we never went into a game without instruction and just a hope that something good might happen if we got the ball to themore creative players.
This is how schoolyard and pub football works.

Of course they are coached... told the opposition weaknesses etc (which i thought we did well to expose, yesterday).
But it's not like Pep is spending hours a day coaching Haaland on every conceivable situation, because he trusts his attacking skills... To paraphrase something Pep once said "It's my job to help you get the ball to the final third, then it's on you".
