it's not a position that really gets a look in, even being an exceptionally good defender is rarely enough to even make the shortlist.. that's why only 1 goalkeeker, and 3 defenders have ever won the award...
as for saliba.. i've been impressed with him every time i've seen him.. definitely got the potential to be one of the best.. whether he takes his chances to reach that potential is another matter...
right now.. and even for next season.. between VVD and saliba, i'd rather have VVD.
after that.. depends on how age affects vvd, and how saliba progresses... but the choice should be naturally moving in favour of saliba..

It’s actually a decent debate and one that should probably include Konate instead.
I’d say VVD is a better passer of the ball than both and he’s also really settled into the captains role. VVD also has consistently made the players next to him better. He’s been near faultless this season so as it stands VVD.

VVD has a better long pass for sure, but the short passing game, plus dribbling out of tight spots goes to saliba imo. Splitting hairs tho really, they're both excellent.

I think VVD can play well into his 30’s. We’re seeing it more and more often but you never know.
I don’t think Saliba guarantees anything myself, it’s always hard to tell. Wasn’t so long ago people were saying this about Upamencano and that Konate was a crock.

Well it’s helped us double our wage bill and keep players like Salah by giving him £300k a week. Like having a top 3 elite manager by paying him a top 3 elite wage. It’s also allowed us to increase the capacity of the stadium by thousands and redevelop our training facilities and that’s before being able to build a world class squad.
This means we can bring on players like Jota and Nunez and Arsenal have to bring on Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketia which is why we consistently challenge for the biggest prizes and Arsenal haven’t in well over a decade.

Well it’s helped us double our wage bill and keep players like Salah by giving him £300k a week. Like having a top 3 elite manager by paying him a top 3 elite wage. It’s also allowed us to increase the capacity of the stadium by thousands and redevelop our training facilities and that’s before being able to build a world class squad.

Yep and we're definitely missing Caicedo.

Stupid discussion. Both world class players.
Liverpool fans will judge VVD by what he has done for them historically. Arsenal fans will base their opinions of Saliba on how good he might be in the future. Nobody will agree who is better.
