Good. Just need Sonny back now.

Cannot see him playing for at least a couple of weeks. Malaria causes extreme fatigue and can be very debilitating. Certainly not worth risking him until he is fully recovered and his body has fully recovered.

Michael Oliver at “home” giving on the first goal what is a foul on the keeper?🤣
They’ll build a monument for him in that decrepit city

Recovery from ANY strain of malaria can be from 2-24 weeks;

Uncomplicated Malaria
The classical (but rarely observed) malaria attack lasts 6–10 hours. It consists of

A cold stage (sensation of cold, shivering)
A hot stage (fever, headaches, vomiting; seizures in young children); and
Finally a sweating stage (sweats, return to normal temperature, tiredness).
Classically (but infrequently observed) the attacks occur every second day with the “tertian” parasites (P. falciparum, P. vivax, and P. ovale) and every third day with the “quartan” parasite (P. malariae).

More commonly, the patient presents with a combination of the following symptoms:

Fever
Chills
Sweats
Headaches
Nausea and vomiting
Body aches
General malaise
In countries where cases of malaria are infrequent, these symptoms may be attributed to influenza, a cold, or other common infections, especially if malaria is not suspected. Conversely, in countries where malaria is frequent, residents often recognize the symptoms as malaria and treat themselves without seeking diagnostic confirmation (“presumptive treatment&rdquo.
Physical findings may include the following:

Elevated temperatures
Perspiration
Weakness
Enlarged spleen
Mild jaundice
Enlargement of the liver
Increased respiratory rate
Diagnosis of malaria depends on the demonstration of parasites in the blood, usually by microscopy. Additional laboratory findings may include mild anemia, mild decrease in blood platelets (thrombocytopenia), elevation of bilirubin, and elevation of aminotransferases.

Severe Malaria
Severe malaria occurs when infections are complicated by serious organ failures or abnormalities in the patient’s blood or metabolism. The manifestations of severe malaria include the following:
Cerebral malaria, with abnormal behavior, impairment of consciousness, seizures, coma, or other neurologic abnormalities
Severe anemia due to hemolysis (destruction of the red blood cells)
Hemoglobinuria (hemoglobin in the urine) due to hemolysis
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), an inflammatory reaction in the lungs that inhibits oxygen exchange, which may occur even after the parasite counts have decreased in response to treatment
Abnormalities in blood coagulation
Low blood pressure caused by cardiovascular collapse
Acute kidney injury
Hyperparasitemia, where more than 5% of the red blood cells are infected by malaria parasites
Metabolic acidosis (excessive acidity in the blood and tissue fluids), often in association with hypoglycemia
Severe malaria is a medical emergency and should be treated urgently and aggressively.

Are you saying Bissouma got malaria?
How can that be?
You just take the pills before you leave and again while you're there. You have to be a royal idiot not to take the pills. Malaria is much easier to avoid getting than it is to get rid of. Could haunt him for the rest of his life with recurrences..

"You do not get malaria multiple times" So many silly myths about these things.

I think you mean you build up a resistance to malaria over time, which is what happened to me as I haven't caught it in years despite sometimes traveling to regions where it can happen.

His team manager confirmed that both him and Diarra had malaria. So one needs to accept his word don’t we?

I know this isn't a travel forum, but just for safety reasons, please nobody act on the basis of the poster above claiming malaria is just like a bit of a cold or whatever.
Over half a million people die from malaria every year.
Some people might be affected less than others, but going to a malaria prevalent area and not taking anti-malarials is taking your life in your hands.
If in any doubt speak to your GP, don't take medical advice from JA606

Exactly. Medical science has pretty much cured Malaria these days, which is why Bissouma was back on the bench a few days after getting it. Bottle of jollop off the doc and you’re right as rain. Same as AIDS, nowadays AIDS meds are so effective you can have it, have unprotected bunk ups and the meds will stop you passing it on. So, no real need for Johnny’s now if you’re gay (obviously if you’re not gay and don’t wanna get some bird up the duff you’ll still need one). Getting AIDS these days is hardly any worse than getting conjunctivitis, who’d have thought that 30 years ago. This is why mental health and anxiety and all the other nonsense illnesses are becoming so prevalent - we’re wiping out all the actual diseases so the people that wanna be ill are having to make stuff up.
