2 decent teams who we should be beating and we did. Of course Martinez is a good player, but if we need to cope without him, so be it. Casemiro and Mainoo is more important for me, although it's a sign of where we are that Mainoo has become so key for us.
Our issue has been goals, so if we can get our front 3 properly going, which they have in the last 2 games, that will be encouraging

Dalot is 24 and Martinez is 26??!! I don't consider that young. It's got to be a blend of young players and experience. He's simply picking the best players available, regardless of age.
Mainoo has only be starting regularly recently, he wasn't at the start of the season, it was due to injury that he got his chance, rather than some great ETH foresight.
I have always said that there is a decent squad here, but ETH hasn't got the best out of them. And don't forget he forked out for Antony who was 21/22 at the time, how wise was that?

They aren’t youth players and some of those aren’t even young. LVG played more youth than anyone but few made it. It’s been much a muchness in terms of giving young players games since Fergie retired. Issue is that so many have failed to develop.
LVG played youth mainly out of necessity.
He quickly got rid of Garner and never gave Iqbal a go. He gave Pellistri limited opportunities too.

It's not that ETH gives them a chance, all managers do. But if he spots the attributes he wants, he handles their introduction into the team very well.
Another thing he does well imo is giving injured players the time to get properly fit. A lot of managers don't, including Ole.
We are going to miss Lisandro though, we haven't got a like for like.

Its anrubhish clear out if we end up buying rubbish. We should be signing borderline world class players not patchy players. We can same the patchy players for the youth team. Why are we signing Amrabat to a position we have lost 3 players who can do adequately. Or Antony, or Mount? I dont think the youngster should be borderline world class before they get regular playing time. City and Liverpool do this very well and through out a season are giving 3 to 4 youngsters genuine time playing. They sell them for piles and use them to get borderline world class players. We just give another mid level team strength to challenge us. We have the most amount of youngsters in the prem in my imagination. All for pennies. That's just wasteful

That's what training is for though. Over the course of many months, players like Iqbal get to repeatedly train etc.
If he's not pulling up trees in training then why would/should he get minutes?
If an academy player is genuinely balling in training, you can be absolutely sure they'll get a chance. If they aren't getting a chance then it's probably because they're not as good as you think they are.
But that's also why we're sat on our backsides making comments on a forum and not coaching within a Premier Legue team.

That's what training is for though. Over the course of many months, players like Iqbal get to repeatedly train etc.
If he's not pulling up trees in training then why would/should he get minutes?
If an academy player is genuinely balling in training, you can be absolutely sure they'll get a chance. If they aren't getting a chance then it's probably because they're not as good as you think they are.
