Until recently I thought every album released that year was up for consideration, but you actually have to apply to be nominated 😂
You have to apply?! WHAT?!?! That explains why the likes of Oasis were never nominated. As if they'd request to be nominated for something. 🤣
It is a complete nonsense. A good buddy of mine is there tonight as it goes.

In what capacity?
The Grammys seem to be held up as th Oscars of the music industry but I tend to be baffled by the winners most years. It's definitely turned in to a "diversity quota" event.

Much like SPOTY and every other awards show
The Grammys, much like The Oscars have been completely irrelevant for years now. Nobody cares about corporate back slapping elite trash award shows. Whose nominated, who wins, has taken a back seat to virtue signaling cringe. It's utterly destroyed any credibility these award shows used to have.
The only thing anyone remembers from The Oscars in the last decade is the sad sight of a cuckold emasculated man slap another man on stage all because his evil wife demanded it🤣

Jada didn't ask Smith to slap Rock. That was all him
If you want to argue that artists didn't win their Grammys on merit, I'd advise against also argue that Oasis not winning one was some historic injustice.
I only saw Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish get mentioned on the news, both of those artists are very good at what they do, whether you like what they do or not.
The grammies seem quite pop orientated, which is currently dominated by women... So makes complete sense.
Oasis were and still are incredibly overrated. A few good songs at the start but then they all ended up sounding exactly the same. Music in general was also much better back then so they had much more legitimate competition for awards.
Does anyone even watch the Grammys anymore? Take the ‘woke tokenism’ to one side and you would still expect the majority of nominees to be female anyway. There are more female ‘musicians’ out there than ever. And by musicians I mean women with very skilled plastic surgeons that get half naked and shake their ass around whilst butchering some 70s-00s tune and calling it a cover
There are some legitimately very good female artist right now.
Billie Eilish is an amazing singer. Swift is a good songwriter and exceptional performer (her albums with the national's Aaron Dessner are good). The likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, Clairo, Ilsey etc, are making really good, award winning albums without "shaking their ass around".

Which male artists were unfairly ignored?
Swift and Eilish are arguably the biggest pop starts in the world aren’t they?
The Grammys (like the Oscars) are pretty irrelevant these days anyway.

I was exaggerating of course. But you did imply you find it surprising that Oasis were overlooked, which implies you think they were musically important, which tells me you're in no position to judge whether or not female artists this year did well on merit.

Nothing to do with the Grammys but I just read this, rumours are it’s possibly Brandon Williams. Been unavailable for Ipswich for quite a while and recently returned to United.

They weren’t musically important? They may have not been original but they were certainly important. Hence the numerous documentaries recently released, the multiple current acts who cite them as influences.
Gunge ruled the early 90s then Oasis and other British rock bands definitely took over (in the UK at least). Oasis aren’t groundbreaking or anything but I don’t know how you can say metal ruled the 90s? Definitely Maybe is culturally a massive record in the UK, can’t think of any 90s metal album that comes close. Oasis post Morning Glory and absolutely dross though.
