Before this weekend games he was 3rd in Europe for open play chances created.

That’s incredible for a predictable winger

Weren't you even criticising him on the live thread yesterday? Something about being a fan but him not being good since his illness.

Yea he’s looked a bit off it the last couple weeks and I’d give Johnson a start next week.

Yet still a big fan of him and think he’s a incredible player for us overall

First half he was poor. Like he has been since his illness

Second half in that 15 min spell before we scored (the period of the game we dominated), he was our best player. When the ball arrives at his feet, you know he will keep it and carry it up the pitch. Fantastic pass in the lead up to Sarr’s goal

Regarding assists, he’s been unlucky this season. I read in Europe’s top 5 leagues, he’s top 5 for chances created from open play. We’ve just not been finishing the chances he’s created

He’s a frustrating player because his weaknesses are clear (he’s slow, one footed and doesn’t score enough). So when he plays it’s makes you want Brennan on the pitch instead as he has that pace, right foot and can get in behind

However, when Brennan came on, you notice Kulusevski does a lot of things which aren’t appreciated. He keeps the ball, he can hold players off, carry the ball, play nice passes. Brighton were all over us after he went off

Kulu and Brennan have the complete opposite strengths and weaknesses. If you combined them you’d have some player

I still think Kulu should start and Brennan is more effective as a super sub with his pace

Look at Sarrs goal yesterday he basically created it with his incredible pass but doesn’t get an assist that’s why the assist stat is pretty worthless

Spot on 👍🏻

He's doing ok.....probably never gonna have the out and out pace to be elite level.

But decent footballing brain and strong.....just isn't quick enough.

When Johnson starts his ball retention is not good enough. Especially when playing with his back facing the goal. Too easily dispossessed.

Good at bursting into the area though.

He could do with losing a few pounds. Would probably gain an extra half yard.

Yes stats are not everything but when you see that our other forward players/full backs have more assists or as many in Werner's case, in less minutes - Porro (7), Maddison (6), Son (6), Johnson (4), Richarlison (3), Udogie (3) then I still have to question it. I mean the open play chances stat is presumably also somewhat flawed because it's not like every chance will be easy to convert.

Along with BJ he's become a bit of a squad player for me being afforded starts, when we could do with better overall going forward. Whether this comes from one of those players or it's someone we need to bring in, remains to be seen.

I think that's a perfect analysis of Kulusevski.
As for whether he should always start and Brennan come on as sub, personally it should be mixed up. It keeps opposing managers guessing what to expect. Someone mentioned yesterday about us being an unknown quantity at the beginning of the season and then getting found out. Having such different players available in the same position adds unpredictability which having a strong bench gives you.

That was often the case with Modric at Spurs. Moussa Dembele too. Not high on assist stats but vital nevertheless.

This is a good breakdown. I've felt Kulu has had his better games when he's played central and this could relate to him not quite being involved in the play that often lets him down such as being on there on the wing having to attack wide. Being central suits better his other strengths.

With both players having contrasting weaknesses and strengths maybe we should therefore be looking at a winger that will strike a good balance of the two, if we aren't going to see improvements on either players weaknesses.

Sigh, why do we turn on players so quickly? We’re doing it to Johnson, we’ve done it with Richy and Romero and we’ve even done it to Sonny in the past.

All players have a dip in form from time to time, and he’s not even been THAT bad

I love Deki, he’s one of my favourite players.

Why do we turn on players so quickly...or managers, right Sizz?

I'm not turning on him but I think we can have a discussion on his form. I would say he's been ok overall. We know he can be much better.

Kulu is a midfielder that can play well sometimes on the wing. He proved that when he covered Maddison's role in some games and looked far more natural and comfortable.

I see those denying others their right to criticise on the match thread yesterday are out in force today criticising our players. Incredible. Absolutely staggering.

And for the record, the stats don't lie. Kulu is producing the goods. It's not his fault Kane isn't there anymore to flatter his numbers. And Luka criticising Johnson after he scored the winner yesterday is just funny

I see those wetting the bed on the match thread are playing the victim card today saying daft things like
"denying others their right to criticise". 😂

Absolutely staggering. Fridge after your admission of being an emotional wreck (you absolute patsy) during the match thread, did you take my advice and reach out to the internet doctors?

Hard to argue with what with anything I said. I also praised him but because you are still fuming you forget to mention this 🤡

Y'know, I see you frequently using these clown emojis and words like "rat" to describe Poch and I'm starting to get a measure of who you are and, don't take this the wrong way, you come across a little like one of those really nasty incel types. Someone that inexplicably loathes women but loves Andrew Tate and Jorda Petersen. There's something in the way you speak that gives me that impression and if my hunch is right and that is the life you live, I pity you.

For the record, I'm responding to posts here, not your history. I had a quick glance yesterday to prove you wrong and it only took me 5 seconds to put you in your place.

Cheers mate. From your comments I have concluded you are emotional wreck of a person. I'm not sure of your gender, so I don't want to use the wrong term to offend you.

Have a thumbs up emoji 👍🏻
