Amad

I don’t think ETH trusts Amad out of possession yet. I read it was the weakest part of his game at Sunderland, and that was in the Championship where he can get away with it, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if that’s a big reason why he’s not getting on the pitch.

Van de Beek was never going to be a starter anyway as his best role was as a number 10 and he was brought in as cover for Bruno who was always fit and let's be honest a much better player.

It was just another very odd signing like Mount. We'd have been better off bringing in an actual central midfielder in both cases.

I would suspect its something like this. As tbf he's always looked pretty useful in possession whenever I've seen him.

Lingard and Donny were only at the club together for one season. Donny was shiiiiiiit and injured and then went to sit on Everton’s bench. Three managers at United, then a one at Everton and Frankfurt, don’t play him because he’s shiiiiiit. The idea one of them has done it because he has a grudge, rather than the obvious that he’s just shiiiiiiit, is hilarious.

Who are the three managers?

We were having similar conversations over Pellistri last season.

Sometimes these players are just not good enough. IMO Amad is just too physically weak for the premiership right now.

Fair enough. But how on earth can he go on trusting Rashford out of possession? At least Amad doesn’t give the ball away easily.

Donny was sent to Everton during Ralf’s interim, if I’m not mistaken.

That makes some sense. But how does he get the chance to prove himself? Andy why even have him on the bench? The one that got me was against Newport. He should have really started that. Didn't even get a minute

He was sent on loan as Rangnick had no use for him.

I do agree on Pellistri, because I’ve seen enough to form an opinion. Which is not the case with Amad. I’m definitely not saying he’ll be great. All I’m saying is why not give him a chance?

It’s one of those, though. He may just not be ready to play minutes. It’s easier for fans to just say give him a chance, but we won’t be privy to everything going on when it comes to youngsters being brought through. I think it was the same with Garnacho when he wasn’t starting games last season.

I don't agree with that. He was certainly lightweight when he fist joined. But I've watched plenty of his time in the Championship last year. He's bulked up quite a bit and was coping just fine with the physical nature of the league. And he coped when he came off the bench against Forest.

Ultimately he might not be good enough for the PL - or a top 6 PL club. But I don't think the physical side of the English game is an issue for him now.

Some of the first team don't look like they're ready to play minutes tbf.

I think that's the galling thing for some.

If he isn't ready to play minutes why is he on the bench? Better to have another option on there. He did fine against Forest too. And when Antony has been so terrible all season, I just can't see how he hasn't been given more of a chance.

I suspect he hasn’t felt he’s been ready given how many of the games are playing out. He probably just doesn’t rate him that highly either, which is fine because he’s not done much in his career and he sees him everyday. I think he’s been a bit hard done by, and I get the Antony issue, but his job is also to try and get Antony to contribute in some form rather than just chucking a youngster in. It’s usually what managers do, unless they have special young players, and fans sit there whinging because of it.

Maybe Amad just isn't that good?

I think people underestimate the how big the step up from the Championship to the Premier League is. It is absolutely enormous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Always the same escuse. Just an impatient manager. Notice also how everyone seems to drop in ability under his management. Every single player.

But no-one is asking him to chuck him in. Just give him a chance of the bench here and there to see what he can do. Or start him against Newport. But to give him half an hour against Forest, him do ok, then not give him another minute for the next 6/7 weeks is just pointless.

Fair point.

But it isn’t a manager’s job to play a youngster so a fan can make a judgment on them.
