Strange Shaun, because if I'm not mistaken, we didn't bring many in at the start of this season, we were in crap street because we lost nearly every player in or around our first team squad!..
The shambles what Farke had to start with was something nobody else had, and he's done well to get the few he got and to gel them together the way he has!..
If he'd had more first team players at the start of this season instead of having to bring in the it could be argued last years fringe players we might be ahead of Leicester now, but that luck he didn't have!..
Leicester and Southampton bought some decent players in, Ipswich it could be said have done brilliant the way they've done things, but our dealings under the old regime knacked us up!..
It could be argued that some of or all those players with funny contracts didn't give their all and let us down!..
I'm convinced we can bag an auto-spot now. Ipswich and Southampton concede too many. Just got to keep our eyes on the prize and hope nobody gets injured.
I am far more reassured with regard to defence under Farke than under Bielsa - Rodon and Ampadu have really made all the difference - the spine generally is much stronger. We're seeing lots of games where Meslier doesn't have a lot to do apart from distribution. Goals scored against us are more likely to be against the run of play, even flukey, it seems to me, rather than us getting overrun. We lose games, rather than getting beaten.
Have there been any games this season where we've been comprehensively outclassed? The worst defeat was Southampton, but did they outplay us or did we not turn up for that one?
The Soton defeat was end of September, we were lacking fluidity and still in first gear.
Look at us now that DF has had time to iron out issues, and he has got more talented players than Bielsa had on balance, to play the Farke way.

We basically gave the other 3 teams a 5 week head start.
So frustrating to think that if we hadn’t had such a messy August with transfers and just won two more games then - say Sheff Wed at home and Cardiff at home - we’d be comfortably two top and be closing in on first place.
