I think this is a positive statememt as he's stating that the new regime is taking ownership of the situation.
If there's a hint we may keep him we could eek more money out in a transfer fee.
I don't want to see him in a United shirt again of course but, at the same time, I am also an advocate of giving people a second chance. I think he should go but if he did play for us again there would need to be a lot of hard work put in for him to right the wrong.
Seems like he is leaving the door open.

Greenwood would force it open anyway.

More articles from Adam Crafton on the way then
He's not really said anything we don't already know there.
Also if the plan is to sell him then repeating he can't play for the club ever again is hardly going to do wonders for his price tag is it?
I think Mason has already played his last game for us. He will be leaving I reckon. This is just good business sense to not totally write off and transfer fee.

Unless United get a stupid offer for him.. I reckon they will have him back.
If he wants to go back of course.
That’s a good statement imo, shows they are in charge of the decision, means any potential suitors will need to pay more. You never know, he may already have decided he’s going.
I haven't hears these 'quotes' re Greenwood during either the BBC or MUTV interview
'We need to look at facts, judge fairly and take into consideration what the values of the club are. Then we come out of that with a decision. It is not appropriate for me to comment on Mason Greenwood."

He really has and if you can’t see it good luck. The part he specifically speaks about different upbringings especially.
I bet the cretins would proceed to call Sir Jim a rapey supporter if him and his people look into this and welcome the lad back.

Keeps his job secure
"I can talk about the principle, I'm not going to talk about Mason," Ratcliffe told journalists at the Ineos office in Knightsbridge. "I'm familiar with it. The principle is the important one because we will have other issues going forward.
"You're dealing with young people, they've not always been brought up in the best of circumstances, who are very talented, they've got lots of money and they don't always have maybe the guidance they should have.
"What we need to do when we have issues like that is a, we need to understand what the facts are - the real facts, not the hype - what the real facts are. Then we need to make a fair decision in the light of the club's values, that's what we need to do and that's how we will do it.
"We'll make a decision, yeah, correct. And we'll justify it one way or another.
"All I can do is talk about the principle of how we will approach it. Is he the right type of footballer? Is he a good person or not?"
When specifically asked if he was not closing the door on a return for Greenwood, Ratcliffe replied: "Well, he's a Manchester United footballer, we're in charge of football, so the answer is yeah, we have to make a decision, it's quite clear.
"There is no decision that's been made. He's on loan, obviously. We've got one or two footballers we have to deal with that are on our books and we need to make a decision, we'll do that.
"But the process will be understand the facts, not the hype, and then try and come to a fair decision on the basis of advice, which basically is he a good guy or not? Could he play sincerely for Manchester United well and we'd be comfortable with it and the fans would be comfortable with it?"

He was finished as soon as that audio was released in all truth. If it was just allegations and his word and hers there would have been a way back for him for sure. We've seen it with lots of other players.
The audio can't be unheard. It's probably best he moves on and I think he probably will do. The club deserve a few though given we've done nothing wrong.
He may well have left the door open. Also, what he has said is what you would expect even if he wants to sell Greenwood in an effort to drive the price up.
Effectively, we don't know any more than we did before. All we can do is see what happens.
Although I think that it is key that he mentions whether the fans would be comfortable with it. I don't know any United fan in real life that would be comfortable with it. There are a few on here that would be. But my view is that the vast majority would not be comfortable with it. I still don't think he can play for United again, unless there is a believable explanation of the audio recording.

Pretty much where I'm at. It would take a lot for me to change my mind on him.
I think the players future at the club could come down to what the likes of M.U.S.T have to say on the matter.
Whatever happens, it’s clear Ratcliffe has the best interests of the club at heart, so I would accept whatever outcome they arrive at.

Well, if MUST do have a big sway in the decision, that reduces the chance of him playing for United again.
I think it will be determined on what the manager and the DofF think about his value to the playing squad. Plus what the womens team and staff think about the prospect. The Fans Forum will also have a say if that continues under Ineos.
