It's an overcorrection from the time Microsoft's chatbot went full on racist. I'd imagine the shareholders are nervy that an AI could go full on Hitler. It's part of an even larger issue of AI alignment mechanisms. But forcing diversity weightings at expense of accuracy seems like a counter productive policy.

Can you imagine of the AI bots were able to engage.

This is the way of thinking now. No wonder the far right is on the rise as it's geared towards the culture war and people are lapping it up, which is unfortunate. Why take just one incident and make certain conclusions from it as of the rest of the world and history don't exist? That's such a Tory thing to do.

It works both ways and all ways. "Coverage of bias in AI has shown numerous examples of a negative impact on people of colour too. A Washington Post investigation last year showed multiple examples of image generators showing bias against people of colour, as well as sexism. It found that the image generator Stable Diffusion XL showed recipients of food stamps as being primarily non-white or darker-skinned despite 63% of the recipients of food stamps in the US being white. A request for an image of a person “at social services” produced similar results."

This white victimhood that dominates this era is pathetic. Diversity and integration needs promotion as history shows us the grim alternative. Diversity doesn't mean anti white, it means diversity that includes whites. Anyone with a problem with that needs to looks at themselves very closely.

We don't know if they forced diversity weightings at all, leave alone at the expense of accuracy.

I didn't see black or brown people trying to claim big tech is against them when AI has facked them up in the past.

I didn't see people trying to claim big tech is forcing whiteness weightings when AI has previously gone racist.

AI has been weird with people of colour for a while, the moment it messes up a historical dude or situation involving a white person, then the culture war bullsheet debate immediately pops up.

Apparently a guy asked a few probing questions to Gemini and he found out that it adds certain words to your search, without your knowledge or permission, like “inclusion", “diversity", “disabled", “feminine", etc.
=====
This sounds like typical right wing scare mongering. I would bet money that this turns out to be complete bullsheet made up to make things look worse than they are and get people emotional because the truth won't do that enough.

Mamba, I like reading your replies, but you’ve jumped straight to the bingo card responses here.

Anti-white, far right, etc.

Did you see when the program was asked to show a white family, it said something along the lines of “that is against our policy, to focus on ethnicities”.

However, when asked about “a black family”, “Sure thing…” was the reply.

This program has been shut down now, whilst they fix it.

But just go on Google Images and you get similar “diversity” results.

What do you mean? Let's not pretend we don't know what the OP is implying. Similar incidences have happened in the past without similar implications being made.

I just gave examples. People on food stamps are majority white but AI will show something else. etc etc.

The West has a problem with every trivial thing being weaponised against immigration, diversity, integration and to foster white victimhood. It's pathetic.

Google serves the whole world. Of course you get diversity results

What were you expecting? Single ethnicity results from a company serving the whole world? Of course you get diversity results FFS.

This is what I'm talking about. Even google searches are weaponised now. "Look at us, the Zionists/NWO want to great replacement us and even big tech is in on it"

Facking joke. Even non racist people are buying into it or condoning it as the agenda is inevitable like a tsunami.

Exactly, and it's happened many times before with people of various races bring victims, but apparently, according to the OP, this particular incident has other connotations. ie. Forcing diversity down our throats.

It's pathetic and the question is why it has so much traction.

There was quite rightly an uproar about that.

It has traction because so many people lap it up. We’re in this bizarre period that people are not happy unless they’re outraged. When you actually read what the Google spokesman says then it all seems very reasonable and makes sense. But that’s not what people want to hear.

That's very possible, and could also be down to errors or just an early version of a system that needs work and improvement. Not everything is a conspiracy to force diversity on white people.
