A fitting way to bring up the 400. Like a goal bouncing in off my jacksie.

All three promoted clubs last season were better than all division 1 clubs this season. The weakest of those promoted are relegation strugglers in the Championship. Without significant investment in quality all promoted teams from division 1 will come straight back down.

Spart knows

Spart does. But that is hopefully a problem for next season, when we need to build a team guaranteed to keep us mid-table Championship. Anything better and we risk the horror of potential promotion.

Pretty much the case most seasons with most clubs in most divisions. Look at the Premier league.

Hardly rocket science

Ordinarily the jump from League 1 to Championship has not been that great. The gap to the Premiership is much bigger. Last season, Ipswich and Plymouth looked like teams that were playing the sort of stuff that would succeed higher up, and with players who were on an upward trajectory in their careers. It isn't the same this season. There is pretty much no difference in quality between teams at the very top of the division and teams like Wycombe, Shrewsbury and the rest. I reckon nearly all would get annhilated by most teams in the bottom half of the Championship.

Those were the days, Sammon running amok with his extraordinary goal scoring bum. .......but we must move on I suppose.

I would suggest it was comfortably the most skilful part of his anatomy.

Vidal ... thats not accurate. Ipswich have brought in 10 players, 3 of which cost well over £1m each.
Plymouth have brought in 16 players with 3 fees involved.
Wednesday brought in 11 but only paid 2 fees.
They've all invested in new players, and only Ipswich are really impressing.

Both have invested, but I would say that their style of play lends itself to upgrades in quality. If you aren't really trying to play football, then getting better footballers doesn't make that much difference. Despite his age you can tell that Dwight Gayle is an intelligent and technically good footballer. I fear we will not get much out of him when he could be the player who could get us out of the division.

I hate Utd, but can't knock them tonight.

89th minute winner, how sad!

Warne is already looking to the shackles being off in the summer transfer window. It's hard to imagine that, should we reach the promised land, there won't be some investment made to try to stay in the Championship at least. I also think he will be eyeing something different in terms of playing style (and presumably corresponding players).

That said, although I don't go to any games, I do watch them all and I just don't recognise 'hoofball' as the predominant 'style' employed. Obviously the long pass or clearance is part of the game but actually quite often we seem to play it into trouble and on more than a few occasions it has been like watching Brazil. I think we'd all agree most of the first half vs Charlton was quite pleasant to see - we just don't seem to be able to produce a full game of it with any consistency.

The injury to Nyambe was undoubtedly a catalyst to the problems but could not have been foreseen. Smith was coming back from injury and I presume it was always planned to take him off after 60. On the positive side he has had a marked impact since coming back.

The reference to the strengths of other teams I am sure is to try to avoid the smug complacency of a club "like Derby" just turning up and expecting to win. Big crowds do not entitle us to anything (but thanks to all of to you who go and give encouraging advice from the sidelines to the players).

Ultimately we're a Phoenix club and all is not lost yet. First time we have had back to back losses suggests that there is a mentality in the team to come back from adversity. I think the next 11 games will determine our season. We're still in it so enjoy the ride!

Great job on the 400!

posted on 29/2/24

I wouldn't say it's hoofball but a lack of desire to try to control the ball when under pressure. Instead the ball is lobbed or headed forward aimlessly. We don't know if this is Warne's instruction or down to the players themselves. Hourihane does this a lot though as does Bird, and both are good technicians, so I suspect they are obeying instruction.

Yes,I forgot to say that the head tennis in particular is a worry I have, and as was also mentioned elsewhere.

So who among you are going to apply for a directorship on the proposed new DCFC fans' board?

Having applied four times for the England manager's job (all unsuccessful) I don't think I will bother.

I still think your should, Vidal. We might end up with Spart otherwise.

I will have a look at that. I suspect that the Outer Hebrides are under represented. 🐏 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Not enough Scots in our squad either.

As tight control over spending will be paramount all applicants should be Scottish. So go for it Heb!
