It's always been flawed, but been particularly rubbish in every sense for a long time now, it's all rigged for entertainment and to pull in as much money as possible rather than a genuine competition. It's more like a half way point between WWE and a real sport at the very top level.
Not sure what the answer is, in reality punching each other in the head repeatedly is just a bit feckin stupid. Obviously a select few make huge money and by some miracle walk away relatively unscathed. The amateur fighting scene is better but still you can't get away from the fact it's mostly a loads of bloke slowly (or quickly) giving each other brain damage for money/fame/glory etc.
Throw in the referees rigging outcomes, lack of genuine competition and the cringeworthy pre fight nonsense, it's just a bit rubbish really.
