Gary Neville is on the task force, at this moment in time.

Exciting times. The current stadium is an absolute mess and 99% of it isn't the original material used anyway so it's time to move on.

Give me a bigger version of the Spurs stadium over a ran down Old Trafford any day of the week. Just hope if and when it does happen I still have a good view. Lower tier stretty just under the scoreboard has been my seat for a long long time now and I love it there. The view is great even if the facilities aren't up to what they should be. The leak doesn't come near me either. 😂

A slightly different take on today's story: we already knew that Ineos is interested in expanding or replacing Old Trafford; the task force seems to reinforce the idea that they will try as hard as possible to get wider investment, including public money, into the project, and couch it as a regional development enterprise. Not only they are reluctant to put in a lot of money themselves, but they are looking realistically at the horrible borrowing climate at the moment. Given the similarly horrible state of public finances and the delicate politics around major infrastructure investments, I don't think any of us should be reading this as a sign that a new or redeveloped stadium is imminent. They're making the right moves, but this could easily take a decade to come to fruition.

He's just a frontman for Peter Lim.

Done a lot more with his life than anyone on here Boris, you included.

Most rich people have financial investment somewhere along the line to help them out. Your owner probably unique in this though as he's rich by birth right on the back of incredible poverty and modern day slavery of his people. 👍

I wasn't commenting on whether it's right or not. Just that it shouldn't surprise anyone. He's a self-interested plutocrat. That said, is it reasonable to want him to self-fund a stadium? He owns what - 29%? - of the club. Is he morally obliged to bankroll the stadium, effectively gifting a billion pound asset to the other shareholders? If we want the stadium to happen anytime soon, inevitably the only way it can happen is through creative financing. And that's not necessarily against the public interest if there's some public money involved, and if real regeneration happens as a result.

He's a despicable man.

" accused over the years of a frankly disgusting list of crimes. From deforestation and starting forest fires that caused toxic smog, all the way to the displacement of local communities, child labour, forced labour, exposure to toxic chemicals and violation of national reserves and lands belonging to farming communities."

I've just had emails from the Manchester United Supporters Trust, of which I'm a member.
They have been invited on to the board to represent the supporters. They will be giving fans an opportunity to say what they would like, and putting forward the various proposals.
So if you want to have an influence, albeit small, think about being a member.

I’ll be absolutely gutted if they go for a new stadium.
Surely OT isn’t that far gone that it can’t be rejuvenated into a fantastic stadium?

And using taxpayers money, well that’s embarrassing.

So disillusioned and distanced from this once great club, these days

Glazers also had their new Tampa stadium built by tax money back in the 90's

Has Duncan Drasdo as a Member of Manchester United Fans’ Advisory Board and The Chief Executive of MUST, been appointed to the OTR Task Force or has MUST as 'a supporter's collective organisation' been invited to join the OTR Task Force?

That said, is it reasonable to want him to self-fund a stadium? He owns what - 29%? - of the club.

The club should fund it. No PL club should be using tax payers money given the amount they rake in each year. I can’t think of a less worthy use

Andy Burhnam and Tom Ross have been appointed on the Task Force. Looks like tax payers money could be spent in this project. It will create hundreds of new jobs so it will be good news for Greater Manchester

Not a single penny should come from the taxpayer. If you can spend hundreds of millions of pounds on players every season, then you can pay for your own stadium upgrades.

Manchester wouldn't have hosted the Commonwealth Games if City hadn't agreed to move into the new stadium.

City also gave away the Platt Lane complex which is now used by MMU. The club still pay for it's upkeep along with the upkeep of the Regional Athletics Centre next to the Etihad.

The Council have had their money back 20x over since then.

Whatever.

Im stating that the COMS was built with public money.

Maybe GMC and Trafford C will get their investment back one day if they partnered MUFC with this project too.
