If I was running Chelsea I would want to sell him in the summer as he represents pure profit on the balance sheet. By not offering him the wages he deserves I could say we tried but his demands were too high and so we had to sell.
But that’s just me
Alright strike, yeah we know, but Spurs are not the only side out there.
Do you really think you guys can afford him, cheap low balling chancers!
How do Chelsea expect that wage model to work? If you sign a player on an 8 year contract and he does well, how do you expect to keep him happy if there is no incremental change to his contract throughout that time? You need the carrot in order to stop them downing tools. Cole Palmer, for instance, probably deserves a new contract based on his performance this year but if you're lowballing players, don't expect them to stick around. That's what we did at Spurs and it was a problem for a while. Levy is clever enough to get players on lower wages with performance based bonuses with enough wiggle room to allow for increases should they do well.

Yes, I have. I think the line "The club are not prepared to meet his contract demands" suggests he wants out as they won't budge from their position. It's semantics. You might say he doesn't want out but technically he does because he's not getting what he wants. Him wanting in or out is dependent on the money which doesn't look like it's forthcoming so you'd have to say he wants out on that basis. Technically he wants "in" but the club haven't given him a choice.
Are there no circumstances where you can sell up some of your other players to pave the way for a new Gallagher contract? I cannot understand how a club like Chelsea are suddenly in a position where they can't keep hold of a player that technically wants to stay. It's staggering.
For what it's worth, I know there have been rumours about him coming to Spurs but I really don't see how he gets in our midfield anyway.

They need money quick and he's the big ticket they can cash in on quickly.
All there other available academy players are a bit meh and teams will haggle with them on price all summer long.
In the normal world i don't think he is worth £175k a week, but when you look at the Chelsea earners then he should be up there because he's one of the few consistent performers.
Spurs wouldnt pay him that, i dont believe, but he'd probably take a bit of a hit to join a big club in the top half of the table
Devon, next year he is on a free.
If was him i would sit it out, fight for my place
After that he will get his 175k > 200K , no problem.
Bit rich for you guys , but there are others , he is a an excellent player.
We’ll take him off your hands and pay him a realistic wage

I didn't mean I don't actually understand the numbers. I meant it more rhetorically as in "How the hell can this happen?" - a question more about the stupidity of those in charge at Chelsea than a lack of understanding of the numbers involved.
If I'm being honest though, I still look at that Chelsea first 11 and can't quite wrap my head around why you're not at the very least competing for a CL place. On paper that is some squad. Then again, I know how good Pochettino is so I'm sure it's not anything he's doing wrong. It's happened to too many managers now for it to be anything to do with coaching. I think you've lost your leadership. That's the most obvious thing. I guess Gallagher is the only one that shows that.

Chelsea aren’t letting him go on a free, they will give him his new contract if he completely refuses to budge and then try and sell him at a later date.
You lot desperately need the cash, you’re foooked. I would be amazed if he is still a Chelsea player come the FFP deadline - he will be sold to the highest bidder that he can agree terms with - for me that could only mean a Premier league side, Arsenal and Liverpool won’t be interested, I doubt City will be either other than to Sit on the bench and count towards the home grown quota.
I don’t think United will drop big money on him, they need a striker more than anything else. Which leaves Spurs, West Ham, Newcastle and possibly Villa

I've seen a lot of Chelsea games and I know it's a cliche but they're one striker away from being a top team. Their xG suggests they're creating chances up there with the best in the league. You can't coach that next bit, that art of putting the ball in the net. Coaching delivers xG and the rest is up to the striker.
Leave them alone to creatively visualise the worst case scenario, nick.

The biggest thing for me is the scale and speed of the rebuild.
On paper, the players have quality, but if you go back just 2 seasons, you have Thiago (38) and James & Chilwell (perma-injured) left in defence, none of you midfield remain and all your attackers are also new.
The speed at which change has been made to a squad that was doing ok in 21/22 (3rd place, 74 pts) is ridiculous. Thrown together, lacking balance and experience with a total lack of continuity in the coaching set up. It was bound to fail and even the best coach will struggle to deliver real progress in this context

The Gerrard/Lampard conundrum. Good players can play with each other though. They adapt. I still can't see why Caicedo and Enzo can't play together, particularly when they have someone as mobile as Gallagher mopping up any shiiiiit they cause.

Fridgeboy,
I cannot understand how a club like Chelsea are suddenly in a position where they can't keep hold of a player that technically wants to stay. It's staggering.
Oh well ,you can try looking up the articles i have posting on the subject

It’s simple, you look at that squad and see some great players but they do not complement each other as a team.
Plus they are absolutely toothless

The biggest thing for me is the scale and speed of the rebuild.
On paper, the players have quality, but if you go back just 2 seasons, you have Thiago (38) and James & Chilwell (perma-injured) left in defence, none of you midfield remain and all your attackers are also new.
The speed at which change has been made to a squad that was doing ok in 21/22 (3rd place, 74 pts) is ridiculous. Thrown together, lacking balance and experience with a total lack of continuity in the coaching set up. It was bound to fail and even the best coach will struggle to deliver real progress in this context
