Start Bentancur

Stop playing Kulu, Son and BJ in those positions, the wide player turn in, whilst Son is never in the faaacking box for a cross.

We look dreadful, besides beasting Villa we haven’t been that good for a while, we attack but it’s boring? Just get to the outside of the box, pi55 about and pass back to the defence or lose the ball.

How would you like us to attack considering we set a goal scoring record ? I mean it’s clearly effective.

What about the amount we concede - do you not think that’s needs addressing

The way we attack impacts how much we concede though, thats the problem. We give up so so many chances

Agreed, Ange has not found the balance yet. This is why I think we’re mad for selling PEH, but it’s what the boo boys want.

Biss needs to pull his finger out - we know he can do it but he has too many off days

----------------------------------------------------------------------As I said we pi55 about and lose the ball, which results in teams hitting us on the counter and scoring.

The worrying thing for me is that we will have only played 41 games this season, 1 game more than the lowest possible number. But players looked lethargic a few times + of course the number of injuries we’ve had. Next year will be tough, think we’ll do well and it would represent an improvement to finish 4/5th again with the europe fixtures

Midfield was weak today. Biss, Madders and Sarr all under par. Maybe had Richy started he would have got stuck in today and helped them out?

I watched half the Ali G YT vid the other day and he hinted some of the players were carrying knocks going into todays game. Not sure how much that played a part but it's no excuse anyway.

Felt like BJ took a step back today, playing against Cash last week after he played on Thursday helped him alot.

Tbf had Villa had a the same time to prepare for our game last week it could have been like today.

Thought they did a good job on Madders today. When I saw Paulinha was starting, I knew they would not lie down easy for us.

Bottom line, Silva outclassed Ange today.

Yeah but the World Cup, Asian games, AFCON - our players have played loads even if Spurs haven’t.

That was not tiredness today, it was a schitt oerformance. It is Ange’s first season, I think we forget he inherited a side that finished 8th and sold a generational talent - pundits had us down for 8th to 10th this year and instead were a shoe in for Euro footy and have a strong chance of CL qualification - people need to relax

I'd argue a manager who plays the highest line possible with 9 men on the pitch isn't interested in finding the right balance, not until he feels his job is under threat at least

He won’t change currently because why should he, he has won everywhere he has been and he has taken us from 8th to 5th whilst selling Kane.

Chelsea spent £1bn to finish mid table again - this league is tough

I have only watched the second half of this match, from a point where we were already 3-0 down. And IMHO the only player who was worth his pay was Vicario.
Son tried hard but always ran into solid defense. Richarlison was a lost soul in center, and never controlled the ball when he got a pass and was so slow to turn that he always lost the ball.
Our midfield was totally dominated. Madison did nothing. Sarr could find no way forward.
Aussieglue was totally out played, and its clear he has no plan B when that happens.
But for Vicario we could have gone in at full time with a score 6-0.

When Ange ball works it’s a thing of beauty. When players are not at it and opposition works it’s out and counter it then Ange just needs to tweak it depending on how the game is panning out. But sadly Ange won’t change to a plan b. I thought we lacked intensity today.

On todays game we had the chances particularly in the 1st half and some players were a little off and a couple just not good enough.
Those massive 4 consecutive games in April is going to be Key to where we finish.

"What was the Problem Today?"
Is THAT the question?
Well.........the problem today was Aussieglue, our manager.
When the attack with Son out wide left blocked with nowhere to go, and Richalison totally stymied in the center, and Kulishevski unable to make progress on the right,......and our midfield totally out played.....
the game plan and personnel need to be changed.

But the was no change of plan.
His stated philosophy is that "if it doesn't work then it doesn't work and I don't care if we lose".

A few more of these games and he'd better start to care1

That Fulham side does have some serious quality to be fair - Paulhinha is class, I like Lukic, Robinson is fantastic going forwards, that Muniz is in red hot form, Leno is a solid keeper.

As disappointed as we are, credit to Fulham today

Of course he cares - it’s just he doesn’t schitt the bed as soon as he hits a bump in the road. I mean it’s his first year and we sold Kane in the summer yet we’re competing for CL football - what we’re people expecting?

The problem is that the wingers aren’t that great and neither is the midfield.

On their day, they can be - but so can Paulinha, Rodriguez, Lukiz. None of which I’ve heard of (apart from Paulinha).

We are up and down because our players are Top6 level - some have the potential to get better but a fair few you know what you get and it’s just not every week.

I like Ange and I could see him do well under other owners but it’ll come down to the players he gets and we’ve seen it all before.

I’ve seen us get Top4 but I remember winning the League Cup 99 and 08.

Those seasons under Jol in the Europa were class and we were in it to win it. Since then and Redknapp we’ve drifted in terms of prioritising winning silverware.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Best post I’ve read today - nailed it.

Let Ange try and win us a League cup - look at the winners over the past decade, it’s a serious competition.

The biggest worry about being in the Europa rather than the CL is that we won’t take it seriously, get to a knockout game against half decent oppo and then rest half the side to save ourselves for a big league game - only to lose both.

I agree with credit to Fulham today.... they are a better side than their league position.
But we have quality too!
Romero and vdv (not playing today) are world class backs, Udogie is very good.
Madison is a proven talent, Sarr is excellent and Son is world class.
And Vicario is a discovery and will be sought after.

What is not so clear ATM is just how good our manager is....and what tactical thoughts he might have?

Today we were simply outplayed... they jumped all over our midfield and never let us play.

That’s a mentality thing again though isn’t it? And it comes from the top - the club doesn’t care about cups.

I would Love to win the Europa.

I would rather win the Europa than get Top4 for 4 years.

There’s a question: how long would you take not being CL if you could win the Europa?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You do of course qualify for CL by winning the Europa.

But taking your question at face value - I fondly remember the first time we qualified for the CL, that win at City was great. Other than that though I can’t really remember celebrating at all.

Now the 2 league cups in my adult years - faaaack yes, great days and I would go barmy for a FA cup win again

he was right when he said today was the first time the intensity was a real problem. just never looked up for it at all today, second to everything. meant we didn't win any second balls, our press collapsed because everyone was late coming out to their man, and then the defending was so embarrassingly sleepy, so many untracked runners, lazy tackles that Fulham players easily rode.

just a terrible day at the office

We’re not gonna know about Ange for another year - it was a tough season from an injury perspective, and we’ve assembled a new team, it takes time to gel. Yet here we are in what is likely to be a CL qualifying place.

If it doesn’t work with Ange though - surely you will be questioning Levy as well Ted? Is he the owner to take us forwards?

Yep and that’s on him, if we go unchanged against Luton I will be worried.

I suspect that some of these lot got an absolute verbal battering and will be getting splinters shortly
