Yeah, but what happens when you use a better barometer? Like points total instead of league position?
The stats that should logically apply to such a comparison don't really suggest it's been close, because it hasn't. It's actually quite the phenomenon to suggest it's been closer than perceived. It's those tinted glasses we all wear as football fans.

Don't think so. Apart from Klopp's first season and last season we've been top 4.
How many times you got just 80 points in a season?
This only appears to happen for two reasons
-Because United have unlimited funds and we have to rebuild part of our team every now and then.
-Because United keep sacking their managers and benefiting from a new manager bounce.
Every United manager has one great season where they finish above Liverpool but don't win anything except perhaps a Mickey mouse cup, one average season and then one sheet season at the end of which they get sacked. Always seem to finish above Liverpool in their first season as we

Sat Nav will guide you through the conversation as usual:
VC implied that our league positions over the last decade or so are comparable. You scoffed at that suggestion asking if VC truly believed that. They are comparable. Now you want to talk about overall success or points accrued as if anyone ever questioned (which they didn’t) that Liverpool’s achievements over that period are not notably better than United’s.
You do this all the time Mamba, you waste people’s time having imaginary debates that you’ve made up in your head or retrospectively to try and ‘win’ but all you do is make yourself look silly by shifting the goal posts in an obvious manner for all to see. You should have simply replied initially ‘yeah but we’ve had way more success than you and than our average league positions suggest’.
You do this everytime. Start preaching and pontificate about the individual instead of just debating the topic. If you feel something I said is incorrect then tell me how and we debate that.
You can't guide me through the debate when you haven't even read the thread. You jumped in raw. Here's what Viddy said.
"Not very well at that. The dips have probably been in those lower places just as often as us in the last decade or so."
My reply
"Do you really believe that? And what about the higher places?"
This is a far cry from your "VC implied that our league positions over the last decade or so are comparable." (They're really not either)
I've arranged these in manner easy for you to understand. Hopefully I don't have to explain where you went wrong.
It's actually you that's made up an imaginary argument in your head and substituted my argument with Viddy with it. You're changing the debate from lower places to league positions to retrospectively try and win. It's you shifting the goal posts but lack the self awareness to realise it. It's you that looks silly, every single time.
You should have simply replied initially ‘yeah but we’ve had way more success than you and than our average league positions suggest’.

He's not on Guardiola or Klopp's level of course, but I think he could do a good job for a team in 4th-6th which is exactly where united are right now.
======
Have to agree with this part.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But why would Utd want a manager suited to 4-6th place when all they want is improvement? seems a tad nonsensical if he was appointed don't you think?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are asking Mamba if he thinks?

Ah! got itLiverpool fan having a wee wum, fair play

Not very well at that. The dips have probably been in those lower places just as often as us in the last decade or so.

Please see above.

Wow Satty. You're losing it a bit more every day saan. That' doesn't mean lower places is defined as you say and it precedes this discussion anyway. Lower places means lower places. You're now trying to change that so you can win

lol I expected a better attempt than this bro.
Look, enjoy your success, enjoy our failures. Let us have our surprised enjoyment that lower league finishes between are actually very close despite it not feeling that way.

You have had more success, no-one disputes that. When we’ve been ok you’ve had a bad season, when you’ve had a good season you’ve been immense, unlucky to come across this City behemoth. But the lower league positions in context which it derived, it’s actually very close between us even though, as I’ve said multiple times, it doesn’t feel that close until you look at it.
====
That's like saying something like it was close between Liverpool and United under Fergie because we had almost as many top 4 finishes as United.
It's quite a stretch and utterly absurd. Definitely those tinted spectacles
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No-one said “it was close” again here you are trying to shift the goal posts.
The point was lower league positions. That comes out 5-6 in favour of Liverpool. If you don’t think that is close, then I can point you to a kindergarten teacher to help you learn to count mate.

I didn't say anyone said anything. I said what I said. How can your argument be based on you telling me that nobody said something which I didn't claim somebody said?
