I don't know what your background is but surely it's not for you or me to decide if it's necessary or not. I'm a straight, white male. I don't need to be represented because frankly the world is built for people like me. I'd imagine that if you're marginalised by the colour of your skin, gender or sexual preference, that the alpha world of football can be a pretty isolating and unforgiving place. I don't really care about the tiny little flag but I bet someone, somewhere will look at that and say the sport has come a long way since the 70s where gay footballers committed suicide and black footballers were subjected to bananas being thrown on the pitch. The fact that that flag has been altered on the collar speaks of how far we've come. We should just be grateful we live in a country where diversity IS celebrated.

If the people, and by people I mean deranged fascists who just shout rather than have a conversation, that have taken over the LGB movement (and set it back decades for what they rightly fought for) don't like a countries flag, or need it to be changed so their delusions, they should seek help. Flags should not be desecrated in any way.
