He should get several more seasons

Here’s one, if we keep him and he wins the Europa league, we can refer to him as ETHEL. Think it suits him

I’ve never denied it. I just don’t see many great options to replace him out there.

Like some others I’ve sort of flip flopped on ETH.

__________

Understandable when you see how the season has progressed.

One more transfer window under a new structure.

I don’t think he’s been able to play his first team once.

There’s not that many compelling reasons.

He has in the odd game and we’ve still looked very average.

Injuries have made a big difference, not a small one.
Our defence has been decimated much of the season.
Only Mainoo has been uninjured except for super sub.
It's taken Rasmus and Onana half a season to be accustomed to the PL.
Rashford has been a shadow of last season.

Are these reasons or excuses, reasons I think.

But, I agree, he hasn't developed a style.

I would give him until next Christmas , under new owner, and review the situation then.

Not a great time for ye to be looking with ourselves, Bayern and Barcelona also in the market for a manager.
Of course United will always be a draw but the other 3 are probably a more attractive proposition to potential candidates

If you get my meaning

Unless Andy Mitten is a day late with the April fools jokes, then no.

Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof will both be out of action for at least a month due to muscle injuries.

Both players are aiming to be back before the end of the season.

Absolutely cursed this season.

For all I love Martinez as a player and defender he's made of glass, sadly. We need a long term replacement. We effectively need a replacement for Varane too!

Are there many arguments left for keeping him?

-----------------------------------------

No because regardless of players available or opposition, we have played the same intentional brand of chaotic and directionless football which relies on the individual quality we have in transitions and our ability to defend the box for most of the season and it isn't going to suddenly change just because of players returning from injury or new signings.

Ten Laden lost the plot long ago unfortunately.

I think it would if the right signings are made, as he clearly sees this as a means to an end rather than some ideological set up.

Twas a little joke my friend.

You're right though.....he's good when he is available. But sadly that's nowhere near enough.

We need to buy a whole new defence this summer. He can't be relied upon at all.

posted on 2/4/24

I'm not sure Darren. I think he's more than happy to concede possession and territory and play counter heavy football. The signings made last summer didn't exactly do much to disprove that nor has the way we've played all season, even when we haven't had many injuries.

I also don't trust him to identify the right roles in the squad which need addressing, never mind specific players but hopefully he won't have anywhere near the same kind of authority on players if he does stay.
