On overated players I see rumours jim wants the incredibly overated and overhyped Evan Ferguson. Stay well away, he’s so overated, bang average player. Not fast, not skillful, doesn't hold up play very well, average passer, does not score many goals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If it was me I would sign him and do a really over the top signing on video.....
Some images of Fergie on the sideline, lifting trophies and the name Ferguson flashing on the screen over and over with some other statements like greatness, immortality etc
Then a cut to Fergie driving in his car and pulling up at the airport.
Out walks Evan Ferguson, Manchester Airport T3 arrivals, then a shot of Fergie stood in the arrivals hall holding up a sign that says Ferguson on it.
People walking past looking confused 'why is Fergie holding up a sign that has his own name on?' type stares from the crowd.
Harry Maguire cleans the floor near WH Smiths with a mop looking miserable.
Suddenly Evan Ferguson walks up to Fergie and Fergie says 'from one Ferguson to another, welcome to Manchester United son'
Cut to Old Trafford with them both walking onto the pitch and Evan holding up his new United shirt with number 9 on it. Then a fast cut to the media room and the contract signing.
Now We Are Free by Lisa Gerrard plays in the background throughout.

Antony in that list is absolutely hilarious.
He's scored 3 premier league goals in nearly 2 seasons combined.
Jesus Christ our fanbase is so delusional. I'd rather have Marcus Rashford with one leg, in his current form also, than have that useless Brazilian anywhere near our club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Antony is a very good footballer, he just isn't suited to our system as he isn't particularly fast.
If you put him in that City team in the middle, maybe the Foden or Alvarez role, he'd look world class.
Some of his creativity and passing is superb but sticking him so far wide is a bit restrictive for his pace.
He's like Ziyech for example... needs to play in the middle.

You're on the wind up here definitely. Antony is probably my least favourite signing since I started going to Utd in 1991. In fact he's well clear in first place.

The lad gets an easy ride considering his output and in fact gets hyped hugely, which is not justified considering his output and his price tag.
When ever I see him play now, he really does just hold the ball, offer to go outside, wait for the defender to flinch but always step inside.
I can get that the Citys style demands ball retention otherwise losing it in bad areas leaves the defence very exposed, BUT, it does not make for much entertainment as far as Grealish's performances are concerned.

Pep doesn't play entertaining football. That's not grealishs fault.

Agree with this! Clearly being asked/coached a certain way to fit in the system and he very rarely loses the ball, which is key to way Pep wants them to play. Let's also not forget he was very good last season, starting the majority of games in a team that won the treble.
It is a shame in some ways as he was a much more exciting, risk-taking player at Villa and, as others have mentioned, I think individually would have looked a lot better if he signed for Utd. That being said he's gone to City and won it all so I'm sure he's not complaining.

Or Veron
—
Veron was a classy footballer just didn’t fit the relatively unsophisticated style at the time

----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you seem to see a lot of attributes in Antony, but none in Grealish? Oh well, we all have our own opinions I guess

He used to be so fun to watch as well. Now he’s just ine of Pep’s robots.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree with this too. He was massively overrated even at Villa.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was overrated but he was still fun to watch.

____________
Ten Hag reckons that Anthonys pace is Anthonys best asset.
Either you or TH are clueless.
I go for both.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was about to say, ETH specifically wanted to bring in Antony, so i guess he would put him in a system that suited him...............although even Erik seems to have given up on him

If you can't see why Pep likes Grealish you know feck all about football. CIty rely on an agressive high press. It can all come unglued if you don't hold the ball. No one, but no one, holds the ball better than Grealish. He makes a real difference.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with this!

He’s been an excellent player for us who we’ve really missed this season. Very glad he looks like he’s back, if we’re going to win any of the comps we need him to stay fit now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Excellent how??? What's he done? Please tell me.
When's he ever had a great game or anything???
The guy is trash.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You could see it even in the game last night, he allows us to have control much further up the pitch which makes us better both with and without the ball.

Out of the top 6/7 I would genuinely rate all of the below above Grealish. In no order:
Antony Gordon
Watkins
Diaby
Salah
Saka
Luis Diaz
Hojlund
Kulusevski
Trossard
Antony
Son
Martinelli
Maddison
Rashford
Bowen
Kudus
Havertz
Garnacho
Jota
Almiron
Not to mention all the other City attackers, including the divisive Doku. Even Willian is better than Grealish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone you rate below Grealish?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you disagree with my list though? Genuinely the people i've named, they're all miles better than Grealish.
Who do I rate below him?
Werner
Darwin Nunez
Gakpo
Mudryk
To name a few
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nunez is ten times the player. What exactly don't you like about him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't hate Nunez and he has some qualities I like. His work rate, pace, passion and strength are fantastic. What lets Darwin down is his useless technical ability.
Can't control a pass, can't dribble, can't shoot, no composure etc.
