We have had the lowest amount of games since what 2004/2005? Near fully fit squad with the best under 21 side in the country.

Villa are still in Europe and are tiring. United are still in the fa cup and have huge injuries.

Newcastle, brighton, west ham all shattered from European campaigns.

We really should be getting Champions League football. I can see excuses for every side apart from Chelsea, i do not see the excuses for us.

Other than the top 3 everybody is shedding points all over the shop.

Win half our remaining games and we'll finish no lower than 5th. Whether it's ourselves or Villa who get 4th it will be a case of stumbling over the line rather than putting a late flourish together.

Decent squad, progressive manager, and they play attacking footy.

A transitional season for them too, a few good signings and they could be in the mix next season.

2-3 quality signings and they won’t be too far off.

Looking at our fixtures I reckon we'll get between 13 and 15 points.

Lose to Liverpool.

Draws to Newcastle, Chelsea, and one of Arsenal and City.

Wins to Forest, Burnley, Sheff United and one of Arsenal and City.

We might win more than that, then again we might draw/lose more than that. I'm sort of banking on us winning our games against easier opposition here and not having some sort of capitulation. I think 13 to 15 points is a fairly decent estimation. I feel confident we'll be around the 70 point mark. That's going to be enough for 5th, maybe 4th. If we want CL the worry is more whether 5th actually gives you that as I don't think we have to be weary of United anymore.

5th place is highly likely to get top 4 this season isn't it?

Just checked, we're actually third at the moment. Italy and Germany currently above us, but if the next round goes to form, we should be in the the top two.

On a side note, how the hell can they put together a system where Italy are top, followed by Germany? Talk about an attempted ringer!

If we finish 4th this season, that's an improvement of 4 league positions against last season. Everything suggests that our trajectory will continue. Therefore we're nailed on to win the league next season. It's simple maths.

If you win and they lose (expected results) you will be 12 points ahead of them, with only 21 points available for Man Utd to win. So if you get 9 more points after tomorrow the best they can do is match you, and it unlikely that will be enough.

I haven't looked at the table, but if as of today we need 15 points to be guaranteed to beat them, then it's not possible for us to only need 9 points to be guaranteed to beat them, after we've each played one more game.
