This is very silly stuff. we clearly have tactics. every team does
For me:
In the early season our approach was a surprise to many, but this is a brutal league and you soon get figured out.
I do not think we've been figured out per se, we don't need to go back to the drawing board, but we do have to recognise what teams are doing to us, successfully, and look to adapt a little bit to minimise that risk.
Part of it for me is that our pressing and ball recovery is far less effective at the moment. Teams get possession off us, anywhere on the pitch and often the closer to their goal, the better for them, and they immediately move the ball quickly and directly, and multiple players will get on their bikes to support.
if you look at the first goal vs NUFC, Son loses it in their box, 1 long ball to Gordon, less than strong defending vs Udogie and we're exposed.
In the few seconds this moves from our attack to them scoring, we have both our CMs, standing hand in hand 25 yards from their goal and easily bypassed by a long ball.
Udogie is more advanced than Gordon and then doesnt win the ball, which he should have done.
Meanwhile, Romero is ball watching , letting Isak find space, he is then drawn to the ball/Gordon and it should have been VDV going to the ball and Romero tracking Isak.
For me the tactics can work if there are slight tweaks to positioning and much better defending/decision making as that move unfolds.
2nd goal, individual mistake by Porro.
3rd. Son loses it 30 yards from their goal. Long ball, clean through. Very poor from VDV, but positioning is very poor, trying to play offside in their half. Again, poor decision making & position vs a quick attacker.
4th is a corner. Shambolic marking. It looks like we go zonal with our big players and the others look to mark and disrupt the opposition. Its clearly not working. We rarely get first contact and we're lacking aggression while the opposition are attacking the ball and unsettling the keeper.
There are a lot of individual errors creeping in, but also our tactics do leave us exposed, which is fine BUT the position of players, their decision making and quality needs to be right and so often hasnt been.
We do need to work on this, even if it is just some small adjustments to our shape and organisation when we are in possession, to recognise dangers which are being exploited over and over.
I don’t find it worrying at all.
I watch Spurs to enjoy football. There wasn’t much enjoyment the last couple of years. I’ve had my fill of low blocks to last me a lifetime.
Well that’s a deeply worrying statement.

Obviously not. But Newcastle away is always tough. They have lost 3 home games all season. Plus they have also come into a bit of form. Losing 2 of their last 11.
I enjoyed the 4-1 win at WHL though

Some times you have to take the rough with the smooth, especially in the early stages of a rebuild.
Liverpool and Arsenal lost at home in massive games this weekend, and they're way ahead of Spurs in terms of development and consistency.
I dont think we can be too critical. Yes an absolutely shiiit performance but really we should be looking for the signs of the players and the team beginning to address some this issues and adapt.
What worries me more at the moment is set pieces. We do not seem to be learning, improving and adapting. I wonder who, in the coaching staff, is working on this becasue Ange isnt that sort of coach but someone on his staff needs to be.
What worries me is the games we have coming up. Can’t say I’m looking forward to any of them.
i am looking forward to us ending Arsenal's season
Spurs' only problem is not setting up the defence correctly, attacking too much, conceding too many goals, not scoring enough to compensate, not having a winning attitude, poor quality players, a naive manager, fickle fans, a stupid American football stadium, strip is too boring, a lack of modern history, a stupid name, but other than that they are on the right path to success.

Ange sees attack as the best form of defence. Now whether you agree with that is one thing, the worry for me is that we are barely out-attacking most teams. The better chances always seem to fall at the hands of the opposition. You can only hope this will improve in time with better players I guess because it doesn't look like tactics will change much.

The best defences are a unit, who all look out for each other are determined and aggressive when needed. We seem to let Vicario get pushed around & blocked by opposition and someone should be in there making sure that doesnt happen, giving as good as we get.
He had his faults but someone like Dier was that sort of leader, an aggressor who would attack the ball.
We just seem to be standing around letting players run free and getting first contact, while others stop Viacrio from coming for the ball.

First we want entertaining winning football, if we can't have that then dull winning football is next best, followed by entertaining losing football and dull losing football, in that order of preference

Is he saying he doesn't do any tactical work on the opposition? If that's what he is saying then I find that worrying. I might be reading it wrong?

This is the kind of attitude from fans that gives Levy an excuse not to push for silverware. Football is about glory, what's the point of being entertained and winning feck all.
First we want entertaining winning football, if we can't have that then dull winning football is next best, followed by entertaining losing football and dull losing football, in that order of preference

Is he saying he doesn't do any tactical work on the opposition? If that's what he is saying then I find that worrying. I might be reading it wrong?

He is not saying that. He said they don't set up to stop the other team from playing.
