I've managed 35 games so far this season. I hope it will be 37 and no more than that.
I have strong memories of the promotion from the third division under Cox. I went to India for 3 months in early 1985. When I left we were looking good for promotion. I had very little means of keeping in touch with results. I would crouch over my little radio when I though that BBC World Service would be broadcasting results. It was torture. Reception was terrible and often I might hear something like "Derby County 1..." and the rest would dissolve into crackles. When I got back in April I discovered to my surprise that we had slipped out of the top two and were struggling to get promoted. I remember going from Bristol to Swansea on a Wednesday night where we had a great 3-0 win that set us back on track. Then there was the Rotherham match at home with the famous penalty that we were given, bafflingly before a free-kick was taken outside the area. It was popularly believed that Stuart Webb had bribed the ref. I recently saw highlights of this game on Youtube and for the first time I saw a Rotherham player in the wall kick out at one of ours at the instant the kick was taken. I actually think it was a good decision by the ref now, forty years later. If I close my eyes I can still see Trevor Christie's spot kick from my position on the Pop Side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was in the CStand Paddock that game and thought we were going to blow and then limbs everywhere going loopy when Christie puts the penno away.

Because the police are closing in on you.
We have the luxury of losing today unless it’s by a big margin or Bolton blitz Port Vale. There is always the next game.
Anecdotal evidence of a good turn-out of Derby fans in Cambridge. I guess there's a good percentage without tickets who have 'gone for the craic'?

How the heck did he manage a ticket.
Warne couldn’t even get one for his son and heard on the radio last night some buck paid £450 for one.
Mystery solved.

I’ve not done that but in the early 80’s me and a mate went to watch Derby at QPR. One of our mates lived in London and met us off the train at St Pancras and we went drinking around the Embankment, ended up in the founders arms. We had drank too much and got lost on the tube and didn’t get to the ground until half time and Simon Stainrod scored an hat trick for them.
Derby County: Wildsmith (GK), Wilson, Bradley, Cashin, Collins, Mendez-Laing (C), Smith, Thompson, Sibley, Adams, Nelson.
Substitutes: Vickers (GK), Hourihane, Barkhuizen, Bird, Waghorn, Washington, Blackett-Taylor.
