I think he’s going to be excellent. He’s got such a good skill set.

Was awful v chelsea, but they all were.

Don't think he will cope in a high line. Not the quickest.

Not too sure about that Kash

He will cost close to 100m and therefore United need to walk away now before they get into the joke of a transfer saga they do every season.

Yes he looks very good but can't throw money at the problem like they've been doing for the last 10yrs.

He'll be a good backup for Rasmus

Helped to get Southampton relegated too

No idea how good he is as I don't watch Everton. If he's as good as people are claiming surely teams who are doing a lot better would be after him and he would be very wary of moving to us?

Looks a really promising player. Wouldn’t mind this one from what I’ve seen and read.

Speaking of "not the quickest" - only third comment on a thread about United?

To me doesn’t look special. I think he’s benefiting from being English, tall and left-footed tax. Mings used to have a similar effect.

He’s too footed, strong in the air, strong generally and is actually pretty quick. Not a bad passer of the ball.

One half decent season in the Premier League for Everton where he's admittedly shown a fair bit of promise.

That's not 60-70m territory. For 60-70m you expect a CB to be world class or on the brink of it.

Maguire was PL proven and 80m for a guy that's an average to decent CB. Feels like another case where this could be a big overpayment.

Although he's got more time on his side, potential is there but it's a big gamble this early. A fair price would be under 50m.

The concern would be when you want a big overhaul of players this summer you overpay for potential and leave yourself short in other areas.

I'm assuming he was highly rated long before he had his debut for Everton? He may not have played much in the PL but other clubs were probably all aware of his talents but his supposed form for Everton has shown he can do it at a very high level?

"The hype is good but not a whole lot else to go on."

If you'd actually watched him, you'd know this isn't the case. He's physical, reads the game well and he seems really good on the ball.

It isn't his first season either, he played for PSV last season who won league conceding only 17 goals.

He has all the makings of a good defender.

Certainly wouldn't say no, though the fees touted are very high. If it's closer to £60m than £70m that's a little more palatable.

We need two CB's though, so if we really are keen on Branthwaite then I'd expect us to look to the European market for the other one (Todibo?).

Would also seriously be looking at Onana from Everton as well, though he's going to cost close to the £60m mark as well. Maybe there's a deal to be done for both of them.

I think the price is prem tax more than English tax anyway. People overstate English tax, prem clubs are just minted and get taken to the cleaners by clubs abroad and have to spend a fortune to buy within the league as well.

Reported that Everton will take a reduced fee if done before June as it’ll stop them being close to another points deduction.

Young, English, highly rated, from the North West, we are definelty a step up from Everton, who soulf surely welcome £50m plus add ons for a youngster.

Wouldn't be surprised to see it happen.

Everton look like staying up now for certain. I don't think that helps our bargaining position at all. Be amazed if they sell him for 60m.

Go get someone from Europe for half the price like good clubs do. We are not in a position to be spending 70m on one player who is still unproven at the very highest level.

gonna be interesting to see how United approach transfers now that Sir Jim seems less willing to be bent over on fees and wages.

He is Everton's prized asset so they will not let him go easily or cheaply. They'll want a premium.

Southgate hasnt really picked him for England so not sure he'll fancy spending that much when he's the Utd manager .

It’s easy for CBs to look good at Everton when they spend 70% of the game sitting at the edge of their box, the remaining 30% of the game in their own box and have 7 more defenders protecting them for the entire game.

(I'll admit to being less sure on Onana than I was on Kudus though!)
