Badly need to some sort of result/performance against Chelsea. Thursday can't come soon enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good luck with that. Us away at Chelsea
We now have to win that game as far as I’m concerned.
Chelsea and Liverpool away. The 2 games we’ve got least points in PL history
We wont win at Chelsea. 100% guaranteed
I would back him this summer as he deserves some time with players who are better suited to his system.
However, my current areas of concern are, will we actually sign what we need and will we address the set piece problem. Conte bringing in a set piece coach was one of the good things he did, i feel we really need one.
We desperately need a 6, striker, quality wide forward and maybe another 8. If Werner signs permanently then we know it's gonna be another wasted window.
Kane was so good at defending corners
Do we have another manager we can go for if it all goes wrong for Ange next season? Potter maybe?

This is the worst Chelsea team in a while. Shipping goals in for fun like us. We have a decent chance now we have dusted the cobwebs after a 2 week break.

Here is something I have thought about.
Ryan Mason.
Coached under Jose and Conte. Should know everything about defending. Coached under Ange. Show know more about attacking. If he can find the middle ground and plus he will use kids(if they are good enough), then he would be my option.
Many would see it as a cheap Levy option but if he wants the job, why not?

I wanted Potter years ago and wouldnt be dissapointed at all if we got him in. Feels wrong talking about Ange's replacement to be fair and I know we need to be loyal to him a little longer but I definitely don't have the same optimism I had with him before.
He doesn't seem to be improving is throughout the season, we play worse football, score less goals and id even say our entertainment value has gone downhill too

I like Mason and he seems intelligent enough and probably experienced enough now to get a chance. If there were no other great candidates out there then I guess why not, indeed. If the level we're looking at is a Graham Potter then Mason should have to be a serious consideration himself. Even the Ipswich manager if they get promoted and start well, since he also used to coach here.
McKenna is a good shout. Used to be a youth player with us as well before retiring at 22 yrs old.
He has done really well.

We're only talking about it because there's been reason to. Things have not gone too well for us and Ange lately. He's not going anywhere for now which is right but no harm in thinking about a follow up given the way it's been going.
Potter will have a good style of play and is quite good tactically, the only worry with him is dealing with the pressures of a big team and how much of a winner he is, as he doesn't always come across that bothered in interviews when he loses.
If Mason is given the job that would be a travesty. The fact hes been there through all the recent crap should surely show hes not good enough and partly culpable. Ange said he is one of the set piece coaches ffs
Someone like Ryan Mason needs to go to a lower team and try first before getting the spurs job. The fact some are considering him says it all really
He is charge of attacking set pieces. Some of the corners today we pretty good and Romero was unlucky.
To say he is culpable is abit of a baseless accusation.
McKenna was a coach with Ole at United. They were terrible. Look at him florish now he is the main man reviving Ipswich.

That's harsh. I think the fact he's been kept for so long under different managers says how much value they see in him. According to Ali G he has received a lot of praise behind the scenes for how good he is. I don't put the bad form we've suffered in the last few years on him really.
Today defo highlight the need for a better left back up.
Bar the OG PEH did alright. He was better than Maddison for example. Bents played ok, not sure why he was subbed. But there is still a need for a better DM
Kulu saw lots of the ball and was involved in some of our best moments even though there weren't many.
Defo need better back ups for Porro, Udogie, a DM and a striker.
I just do not see how you back him. He has been backed been given two windows Conte had three windows. He has been backed was allowed to ostracise club stalwarts rightly or wrongly in Dier and Lloris.
It is a huge problem Scott Munn and Ange are buddies. Look at the post-season tour its a jolly up for them both i cannot believe it.
Will not use youth players, no plan b, refuses to change, arrogant in press conferences. (Everything levelled at Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho)
The excuses then come injuries (united/villa/chelsea/pool/ brighton had worse) other than Bournemouth every other side had europe or a cup run. We won one extra game against a ROTATED Burnley at home.
Expect us to be tactically outclassed against Chelsea. Another heavy loss incoming.
Ange is not the one to take us forward in anyway cannot keep justifying Brighton, newcastle, fulham, arsenal, wolves x2 losses sadly.
So we look like we should finish 5th and qualify for the Europa League, which is better than most fans expected at the beginning of the season.
Yet we are now talking about replacing Ange, one thing about some Spurs fans is that they are never satisfied with the status quo, their sense of entitlement shines through.
Realistically our expectations were fairly low after losing Kane, most saying top 10 would be okay and build from there.
I have always said we cannot judge the manager on a single season which has had several disruptions, such as at one point our whole back four out injured or suspended at the same time, then we lost several other players like Maddison (who has not returned as good as he was) and Solomon and Richarlison.
Then we had AFCON, losing Bissouma and Sarr for a month, two of our best players who have yet to get their form back since then.
These are not excuses, they are facts and go some way to mitigate our drop off since the turn of the year.
Come August, Ange hopefully will have 3-4 new additions to the team including a new striker hopefully.
By the way, this is the first game recently we have looked better than the opposition. The difference today was quite simple, Arsenal took their chances and we did not.
I think it's lazy to say we would have took 5th before the season started. We started well and players were performing and our style was unknown to opposition teams. I think it's reasonable to adjust expectations based on how we started.. We then, as always, slide down the table and make hard work of everything. Last few months have been poor and I genuinely never go into a game confident.. We get thumped yet never thump anyone. The goals we concede are often criminal that no other side in the division wouldn't fix the problem urgently. Yet we plod along doing the same thing over and over, because other managers know our shortfalls and yet we never do anything to protect it
I also think it's lazy to say fans are never satisfied. We always fail personally I think this club gets a very easy ride from the fans. We should be demanding better from our club and not accepting mediocre season upon season. We have all been brainwashed into believing what success is. Now, it's even as simple as believing we play good football. That's what some fans believe is success.. It's pathetic.
Supporting this club is hard work most of the time IMO.
Don’t get why Maddison keeps starting when he’s been bad for so long, give Lo Celso a chance, he’s been good when he’s come on
You guys need perspective. When Kane went, no one expected spurs anywhere near where they are. After Dec, yea it’s been quite bad relative to start of season, so it’s averaged out but still way higher than they should’ve been. Imo this style of play is a lot better to build on than Conte or mourinho.
The first 10 games when teams didn’t know how to play us, is the only reason we are 5th.
If you take the last 23 games (34 points) and extrapolate to 33 games, we would be on 49 points now - so around mid table
