p.s. ..... whoever made the call to let Leif Davis go .... what were they smoking? Everytime i've watched him, he just looks what we've needed all season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Davis today isnt the same player that he was two years ago.
He needed to go down and find himself. It happens, it wouldnt have at Leeds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He made his Leeds debut under Bielsa, I am pretty sure with his coaching he would have come through with us, we will all have memories of their relationship I am sure. I am certain that Bielsa recognised there was a player in Davis.
He was sold when Marsch was head coach, cannot say for certain but it does make you wonder whether Bielsa would have sanctioned such a move.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In four seasons he started one game for us in League
18/19 82 mins total
19/20 13 mins
20/21 31 mins
21/22 Loaned to Bournemouth 7 starts total 573 minutes
In 3 seasons, he played a total of 126 minutes under Bielsa🤷🏻♂️ And he loaned him out, after that
He played midfielders instead of him at left back.
He was 22, Barely played any league football and had one year left on his contract.
So we sold him.
Instead of pretending it was a mistake by the club, lets give the lad credit for dropping down two divisions, getting game time, and improving.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Clearly a mistake by the club, he has improved, we didn't recognise that he had the potential to do so or the coaching talent to enable him to reach his potential.
He has improved, we haven't, no dressing that up we cocked up by blocking his pathway with Firpo.
Regarding Davis a homegrown player let go 2 years ago in favour of a new first choice left back Firpo who cost Leeds a small fortune in comparison and to justify such an outlay Davis was seen as dispensable and way down the pecking order in players that could play left back which after his impressive debut away at Villa I
remember at the time being surprised we didn't hold
onto him and just assumed in Firpo we had the finished more experienced article in that position... yes, quite! but fair play to Davis for carving out a very successful career at Ipswich and making it bar a remarkable run of results back as a EPL player.
Next season we shall see what his ceiling is and it could be he's the best at what he does at Championship level but like Shef Utd, Burnley and Luton players that stood out in the 2nd tier, the step up is where they struggle to have the same impact. No one knows yet.
The Marsch era certainly damaged Leeds in more ways than we ever imagined and time will tell how long it takes
Leeds to recover from some quite irrational and irresponsible decisions that clubs like Ipswich don't seem to make along with the likes of Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton. Hopefully we'll also get Leeds run in a fit and proper manner like those aforementioned... we've waited long enough!
His only start was against Villa, 5 and half years.
He never started again, because there was better players infront of him.
He had to go down two divisions, to get first team football. He would never have got that at Leeds.
From what I’ve seen and read he’s great going forward but dodgy defensively. Sounds a bit like Firpo, would he even improve our team that much?
Left back hasn’t been an issue this season at all
Regarding Davis sometimes you have to go down to come back up. Max Dean another example went to MK Dons and has done well wouldn’t be far off our side now but fair play to him he will get a decent move in the summer

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Excatly this ☝️
Young players need experience and sometimes just a fresh start, with the right club, with the right manager, at the right club.
He was at the club four years, had less than 180 minutes, playing time, went on loan, struggled there too.
Just how it goes sometimes
Davis actually made quite a few more first team appearances for Leeds after his debut appearance in Leeds 3-2 win away at Aston Villa in December 2018 under Bielsa
He then unfortunately suffered a knee injury shortly after and missed the rest of the season but did make another 13 first team appearances for Leeds including his EPL debut in September 2020 at home against Man City in an impressive 1-1 draw so clearly he was given opportunities under Bielsa but was allowed by Bielsa to go out on loan to Bournemouth during their promotion in 2022.
However after Bielsa's exit Marsch allowed Davis to go
permantly to Ipswich and that's where he got regular game time and the chance to fulfil his raw potential Leeds saw fit originally to sign him for in 2018 from the north east and develop him further in the U23's under Carlos Corberon.
I think had Bielsa been our manager at the beginning of the 2022/23 season Davis would not have been allowed to be sold, maybe a loan which had that been the case we'd still have Davis with us now but I suppose Firpo to his credit has on the whole been okay this season but I think Davis's dead ball delivery is definitely something Leeds have lacked and Ipswich have profited from but hey that's football and all clubs can cite players that slipped through their fingers for one reason or another.

You would imagine Southampton are the ones that can afford to rest all their players. In reality both teams need to take this game seriously as momentum is very important going into play-offs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m sure Farke will try and lift his players and put everything into beating Saints - he has no option. If Ipswich do lose and we fail to win, I think it will be the final nail in the coffin because lifting the team for the playoffs will be an almighty task. We’ve bottled it four times in the last 6 matches - do the same next week and I think our confidence is shot.
Leeds have to play a strong side, just in case Ipswich lose. Highly unlikely
Southampton can play their reserves and give their first team a week off.
Even if we win easily it will be a hollow victory.

Wouldn't make 11 changes, but no way would I play Rutter or Summerville. Saints only need a few heavy tackles and either could miss the playoffs. Id start Anthony and Gnonto out wide with Piroe at 10 and Bamford or Joseph up top. Bring Kamara in and put Gray back at RB.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spot on in both comments, Shaun. Ipswich are out of sight. Let them go. The time to start focusing on the play-offs is now.
Yes, we go for the jugular against Southampton, but yes, we rest key players. Anthony, Joseph and Piroe are all good shouts. Hopefully, Roberts is back, so Kamara and Gruev go into the midfield. I would aslo rest Gray for this one.

Never give up in sport! I’ve seen some bizarre last days of the season.
The fans will expect nothing less than the team going all out to win this game. Farke won’t rest anyone who is fully fit.
