I still enjoy it right now and don't get what all the fuss is about. Technology can bridge the gap to make certain decisions quicker.
VAR also puts a much needed microscope on Refs. To get rid of it now would be a backward step for the game.
They are not good enough and need help even though they make a pig's ear of it.
But it's still refs making decisions..
I don't think the microscope was needed, really. There was a few high profile decisions that people cried about but it's not like every game there was blatantly wrong decisions. It's a contact sport at the end of the day, you can't remove subjectivity. You just move it off the TV. It's so banal
FIVE-SEASON VAR NET SCORE
Brighton +6
Aston Villa +4
Liverpool +4
Everton +3
Man City +3

The Antony Gordan incident emphasises my point. Nice to hear a player who likes the idea. At the end he says either get rid or get better.
It's actually easier to in this situation to get better because the mistakes they are making are awful. Just awful.
If you get rid of VAR the standard and level of referees will only get worse. And so will the game.

Watched some highlights of that game recently. Turned into an urban myth as the actual 'penalties' were nothing at all except for perhaps one. Even Barca got shafted on one decision. But the internet and all that trying to make it an infamous game.

I don't agree with the assertion that refs will get worse without var. It's literally the same guys making the same calls. Some things might get missed, sure, and that will drive people insane. But those people will always find something to cry about

Fair dos I just watched it again, he catches him. But that kinda proves my point. It's a collision in a contact sport - you're gonna get those where a referee decides it's not a foul but others think it is. You're not gonna fix that unless you change the rules. Then you really are ruining the sport in pursuit of correctness

VAR can fix that incident without changing the rules. VAR needs to correct their mates more often to prove it can work and the correct decision is made. It's so simple.
