this must have been a sore one for rangers fans, was there for the taking.
a lot of work required for next season, changes to the squad, we cant afford another transfer window like we have had this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry but it was never 'there for the taking'.
Celtic were always going to get stronger as the season went on and Rangers couldn't get any more than a single point against them.
Rangers are not good enough and Celtic are significantly better. That's the story of the season.
Rangers were never a major concern for me in terms of the old firm games. My concern was the rest, thats where we dropped stupid points in a lot of games.

our form this season was pretty much what i expected, as was the quality of football we were watching.
it did get a lot better when reo was in the team and we had a settled midfield 3. IMO if o'riley leaves we need to push calmac up and get in a ball winner CDM, a wanyama type but someone who can also collect the ball turn, and start the move.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thiswhen those 3 are in CM and are playing well we will win way more than not, losing MOR would be a sore one but I kinda feel he will go sadly?
Bringing in a suitable replacement would be pivotal to moving forward alomgside a couple of others
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chance we keep MOR cos he still has 3 years on his contract. I wonder if they inserted a release fee when they renegotiated at the start of this season?
Still don't see Calmac moving forward. Good engine still but wrong side of 30. Also he's outstanding at ball retention critical for the deeper role. Threading a worldie assist has never been his forte.

Some fairly cryptic comments from BR post-match … well, as best I could tell given Sky’s sound issues. Going on about “everything we’ve faced this season” and “all the negativity”. Then this in today’s Beeb footie gossip …
“Scottish Premiership title-winning manager Brendan Rodgers says questions about Celtic's playing style was the first time he had experienced such doubts. (Herald - subscription)”
Does he genuinely not accept that we were pash for the vast majority of the campaign? Delighted we scraped over the line in the end, but feck me any criticism and negativity over the course of the season was fully deserved.
it would worry me if he can't accept we haven't been good enough to be honest.
i haven't much cared for his football, and i think he had made some baffling tactical decisions over both tenures for us.

Brendan knows performances need to improve. He's had to constantly juggle the team because of injuries and the replacements gave not been as good as the guts dropping out.
He was keeping us in the race and his use of the squad since January has been masterful.

I think this season has been a bit of a slog. We’ve had some really poor results and a lot of poor games. As much as rangers have had injuries, we’ve had more than our fair share as well. Think I read that McGregor, Hatate and O’Riley have only been able to play something like 7 or 8 games together, albeit Hatate was dropped for a couple of games at the start of the season.
Not 1 signing from the summer started last night which is an indictment on our recruitment, and then you add that we sold Jota and Starfelt, and then had to contend with Abada being injured before being sold in January.
Rodgers deserves his share of criticism for some of what’s gone on this season, but he deserves a fair bit of praise as well. He kept calm when things weren’t going well and managed to draw Clement into feeling the pressure with his comments and then results. Even last night, starting Idah proved to make a massive difference to us going forward.
He’s still a total banger btw. And he should keep himself away with trying to join in any celebrations with his lack of rhythm!

not point scoring. just correcting your mistake. most of the negativity came from your own fans, trying to batter the board, booing santa, this board was a perfect example of it, as was other social media outlets.
If I had said that all was content with Rangers and our fans then you have point, but I didnt. Rodgers was hailed as an elite manager by the media on his return but the grumbles were from the fans and they are still there albeit the volume turned down a bit.
I’m not Rogers biggest fan, but I believe his distinction between Management and Coaching in his post match was designed to cover:
Recruitment policy
Criticism of his team selection/playing style
Santa getting boo’s
Media uproar about “good girl”
Abadas political unrest
Getting banned for calling out Beaton/VAR
Big Phil obsessing over “fun”
Whatever you now think of Clement because of his failure to get it over the line you cannot say the guy hasnt done a good job.
If (big if mind you seeing we are practically down to the B team) we both win on saturday Clement will have won more points since he has been here since Brendan has.
That on the surface is nothing short of remarkable. We were easily on track to finish 20+ points behind celtic under Beale.
Yes he had the opportunity somehow to win the league and yes he blew it and probably more importantly the players blew it.
Clement could only pash with the boaby he has though and it also cannot be ignored that, whilst Celtic famously had three key players out for a couple of months, Rangers have been without between 5 -10 first team players for every game we have played this season.
The jury is out on Clement but you can say hes deffo no mug. Whether he has enough to build a championship team from the ashes of whats there just now remains to be seen.
Our problem is obviously ££ now. If you just look at that side of things Celtic should be strolling the league for the next few years unless King can get his majority shareholding together and manage to sell them to some diehard rangers fans with incredibly deep pockets.

Agree with a lot of this.
Celtic deserve to be champions but it’s been far from pretty and the quality of the supposed two top teams in the country is worryingly low.
And I don’t think it’s going to get much better. Celtic should pull away from Rangers now for a couple of years at least due to champions league money.
But imo the standard of player they will be able to attract will be limited - even more so now.
I can actually see Scottish football becoming a one horse race (as much as it technically has been for a decade or so) and that is not good news for anyone, including Celtic in the long run.
how they won the league doesnt really matter IMO.
they still won it , over the course of the season they were the better team.
Clement has done at very least a decent job.
Rogers done the job he was brought in to do.
So congrats to Celtic you were better than us. I think we will be stronger next season.
league is better when its competitive and thats the first competitive league for over a decade.
‘Whatever you now think of Clement because of his failure to get it over the line you cannot say the guy hasnt done a good job.’
He didn’t beat any teams domestically you wouldn’t have expected him to beat. In fact, he became the first manager to lose a game to Ross County. He lost at home to Motherwell-and had been a long time since that had happened. He was 5 points ahead of Celtic at 1 point, although we had a game in hand and is now 6 behind.
He took 1 point out of a possible 9 against Celtic.
He might not have got actual transfer money to spend, but he brought in a guy that was bought for £35 million not too long ago.
As for injuries, it’s slightly disingenuous to suggest we were without only 3 key players for a couple of months-we had 3 central defenders all injured at the same time at one point and played with Nat Phillips!
Time will tell on him, but once the new manager bounce wore off it was akin to your previous managers.
‘Whatever you now think of Clement because of his failure to get it over the line you cannot say the guy hasnt done a good job.’

a win against Betis is the only game hes managed to produce a win when it seemed unlikely

Possibly the poorest hoops team in a decade have with one match left dropped 21 points but only ONE against our so called greatest rivals? so really how competitive was the league ?Not sure where the confidence comes from that Rangers will be stronger next season ?They have little money and given past history one wonders if they will gamble spending money they don't have on the chance they make it through the CL qualifiers?
That said i have hope but no real confidence that Celtic will strengthen significantly either?
correction we've dropped 2 points to Rangers
