Has to be either Daphne and Celeste or The Cheeky Girls. Dave Grohl has got nothing on them.
Well Prince died in 2016, but his greatest music was made in the late 80’s early 90’s so not sure if that counts.

I'm going based on the music they made during the period I mention.
Them still being alive doesn't count
Then Beyoncé. The Queen 🐝
And (for the music alone) Kayne West’s first 3 albums.
Kanye West is a good shout of course.

Noel Gallagher!

His last album was class
Seriously though surely a lot of factors need to be taken into account but eminem and taylor swift must be up there in terms of success and therefore impact even if you dont rate them
Maybe Elbow, someone like that. Might have said Coldplay at one stage but not as into their newer stuff.
Judas Priest : Firepower album is the best metal album of the last 20/30 years.
72 and Rob Halford still slaying it.
Slash's solo album and first album with the conspirators was excellent also.
also Joe Bonamassa is the don

This is why I hate threads like this. 'Greatest musician' based on what criteria? Records sold? Biggest chart success? Spotify streams? Unless you specify how you're judging it then you just get people's persona taste, which inevitably leads to someone (apparently seriously) saying that Elbow are the greatest musicians of the last 25 years
I don't even dislike elbow. And I'm sorry Spurtle . But come on
OP you have to put some criteria to this otherwise it's just a nonsense discussion of who likes what music
Dave grohl
Damon albarn
Noel Gallagher
Eminem
Best musician...Nigel Kennedy.

The greatest musician of the 1st 1/4 of the 21st century?
It's not who sold the most records or downloads, who sold the most tickets or merch.
The Greatest. Who is it?
Alex Turner until 11 May 2018.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's zero variety in the artists mentioned in the OP
It's definitely impossible to answer from a subjective viewpoint. We could all just name our 'favourites' but trying to think of the 'greatest' is a little more difficult. I feel like it needs to be people who have shaped music somehow, rather than just popularity. For example Taylor Swift is massive....but she's not brought anything particularly new or revolutionary to the table.
You could maybe make an argument for Kanye, or perhaps more so with Eminem - as both of those have had a huge impact on hip hop. Possibly Beyoncé but that might be the same issue as with Taylor Swift.
I know I'm getting old but it just doesn't feel like we have groundbreaking musicians any more!
