If we got a big offer for Son or Romero then I would also sell. 2 top players but Sons best years are behind him, if a Saudi club offered £75m plus I would be tempted to sell.
Romero - this guy is good but not great, people go on and on about him but he wouldn’t have started ahead of peak Toby and Jan. if £75m was offered I would again be tempted to sell.
Eze for me has to come in, he solves a number of issues for us and I think will be out of our reach after this summer. Olise would be great also but has a horrible injury record plus we will get bid up massively.
A motor in midfield is needed, Gallagher is the obvious choice but with Chelsea looking like they will be in Europe and selling off more land, I think we will again be turned down when we go for him.
Lots of talk about Toney - I do t want him, I do t think he is mobile enough for the system and he is also a massive diiiick head and a Gooner.
Would like to see us in for MGW, quality player and would give us more options up top
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So what little leadership we have on the pitch you'd strip out and we'd have to replace them.
This aint FIFA on the PS5. In teh passed we have failed to succession plan for quality players. Son needs to stay, keep that continuity of leadership but his pitch time will diminish with someone like Olise (would be my 1st choice) pushing him and in time surpassing him. You do not sell, committed, loyal leaders like Son until he has no more to offer.
Sell RomeroI just see no purpose in that . You seem to be promoting "doing a Levy" and selling our top assets to fund new buys.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sons on the wane and we leak goals with Romero anyway. I think with £150m for the pair we could seriously upgrade. Stick £100m on the table for Isak and see if Newcastle blink. Let Paratici have £50m to find a new CB.
This isn’t like when we were selling Modric, Bale, Berba, etc. The players I am advocating selling for big money no longer have a major impact on whether we will be successful or not. There is an art to selling at the right time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Furthermore, Romero is a poor leader in my opinion - the Chelsea home game highlighted that. He is too volatile and rash.
I love Son, but we would be mad to turn down a mega offer from the Saudi league for him. It’s all down hill from here with him sadly.
Will a new leader emerge, yes I believe in time they will. Bentancur looks like one to me in the interim. Vic has a voice, VDV looks like a future captain.
It’s been a meh season and we need to improve further - this is a potential short cut
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I like Bentancur. But I could see Ange wanting to move him on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which is fair. The only untouchables in my opinion are:
Vic
VDV
Udogie
Sarr
Maddison - because it would cost a fortune to replace effectively
I think we would entertain bids on anyone else at this point
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If I thought we could return Maddison to Leicester I would. Never got the hype. Streaky player if ever there was one. MGW would be much better in that role imo
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmmm I’m willing to give Maddison another season. He goes missing at times, but that can be levelled at this entire squad bar Vic in my opinion.
The injury he had this year was the worst of his career so far - so I give him further wriggle room for that

Agreed, unless we got a big bid then we need to be complementing these players or buying players to push for their place.
I do think it’s all a bit cushy at our place, I want some of these kept on their toes, fighting for a spot. We’ve already seen that Udogie has no viable competition and really neither does Porro.
There is no one pushing Maddison let alone providing some cover.
Paratici has another busy summer, but he has done very well in the past for us so I’m looking forward to what we get this window
Interested to see what the new Swede will bring

I would take Olise over Eze. Olise can walk into the team on the right wing. Eze would be competing with Son on the left or Maddison behind.
Eze has had worser injuries than Olise who had mainly hammy issues. Olise is 22 and has more growth.
I would trust Eze trying to play 3 times a week.
Skipp - Decent pro, an OK squad option, HG (£10m)
---
Obviously on paper we'd upgrade if we could but in terms of direct replacement, in his case they'd need to be club trained. Less of a transfer issue, more of the youth system needing to do better

Indeed
We have one large rebuilding job in the summer to build a squad.
We have to start factoring in home grown, we will have a paratici signing or two to fit in, we have youngsters knocking on the door massively (some also need to be loaned) and then there is natural turnover like Hojberg, selling because they are dog sheet Gil,Royal and hopefully forster.
Then theres the contracts of austin and sess to sort out im not sure if both contracts have been extended or not.
We also need a pure centre forward.

FWD, LW, CM, CB, LB, RB and back up keeper are needed for an assault on all fronts.
Two more windows at least.
Looking at it like that it's doable, especially considering only 2-3 need to be immediate starters. We're bound to get one or two that don't work out tho
Whatever happens, we need to stop conceding at the rate we are, concede 20 fewer and we’re amongst the top sides.
Is it personnel, is it tactics, is it balance? - I think the latter but I also don’t give a schitt what is, it just needs sorting out

We have to have a heavy turnover for it to happen. We have plenty to sell thats for sure.
backup gk- a proper backup could we steal butland from rangers? also british.
backup right back- gotta be kwp cheap for levy and we need the home grown.
left centre back- lord knows
left back- i think we make do and mend with sess/reggy/davies backup
dcm- lord knows needs to push biss to the bench
cm- lord knows
acm- maddison deputy
centre forward- a proper big name signing, richarlison as backup then parrott/scarlett/lankshear for the home grown.
Seven Signings without looking at the wings.
Just seen newcastle...
despite having pope there gonna potentially sign ramsdale.
The tosin and Kelly on free transfers.
We should be all over these sort of deals to boost out the squad.
For example we are not getting better than Romero and VDV i think they are two of the finest in the league, same with udogie.
Alternative fullbacks are a priority too.

I’m not sure we should be anywhere near these deals. First off I don’t get the clamour for a quality back up keeper - did Vic miss any games? It’s a waste of money that’s needed elsewhere.
We bought Dragusin, so we wouldn’t get both Kelly and Tosin anyway. I think we can do better and there will be better value abroad - apparently we’re all over Calafiore and Buongourno.
Then there is MGW - I think we will blow Newcastle out of the water financially for him - they may not make Europe yet which is going to hurt their development big time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed, we don’t really have one at LB as Davies is a CB these days when fit and Royal isn’t and has never been good enough.
Supposedly we’re interested in bringing Kyle Walker Peters back - on the cheap of course
Got to be buying a backup keeper. Ortega showed why it is imperative.
Ederson/ortega
Allison/kelleher
raya/ramsdale
pope/dubravka
kepa/petrovic/sanchez
onana/altay
martinzez/olson
Whiteman, austin have had zero experience of playing. Forsters legs are gone his performance against Fulham was one of the worst i have ever seen in my life.
Someone like Butland home grown, cheaper and in the form of his life to push Big Vic.
Yep we need to fill 7 positions as I listed earlier. Doubt it will be done in one window but it would nice for one of own to step in a fill a spot or two.
we're probably gonna have to make some compromises somewhere because of the club trained restrictions
might have to use deki as a backup for maddison again even though he hasn't impressed there, ditto for son backing up Richy again. maybe only signing one traditional fullback and then expecting a CB to provide cover there too.
I'm curious to see where we choose to sacrifice some quality depth
Vicario
Forster
Porro Romero VDV Udogie
RB Dragusin CB LB
Sarr Bissouma Maddison
Bentancur DM 10
Bergvall
RW CF Son
Deki Richy Brennan
we would not be able to register this squad for UEFA competition unless two of those new signings were club trained and an additional one of them was homegrown, to give you a sense of the restrictions.

The injury he had this year was the worst of his career so far - so I give him further wriggle room for that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also I shows that this is a squad game and we cannot rely on Maddison and others to be at their best at all times. Look at City...Grealish Foden KDB Silva Doku Kobacic all get rotated in and out and it's pretty seamless. That's how we need to think...not Richi and Madders aren't good enough, but...Who can we get to supplement/compliment these players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed, unless we got a big bid then we need to be complementing these players or buying players to push for their place.
