I think people get away with worse and allowed to return to football. A while back I read that some guys involved in UEFA corruption were only banned 4 years and are now back in football.

I like the odd flutter, makes the game more interesting, Matthew McConaughey once compared gambling on a sport to getting a ticket to the game, which makes sense.

Those who have an issue with gambling will find something else to fuel their addiction.

Not necessarily. He could have been lazing about on the couch, for example.

It’s match fixing rather than betting and they will hammer him for it.

I just don’t get it, could probably have secured a £100k a week five year contract worth £25m.

Someone made a good point on Talksport. The guy is a hothead and gets booked for silly things often.

I don't think I've ever used the expression 'hoist by his own petard' in my life, but this textbook example might be a good place to start.
