Generally speaking I’d take 2nd place over the League Cup. There is the caveat of context though.
Finishing 2nd, 15pts behind the team finishing first, having played rubbish football for most of the season, relying on other clubs being worse than you for finishing where you did, but getting to spank a rival 10:0 at Wembley…
Hmm. Thinking about it, I’d probably still take 2nd place.
United fans claiming they’ve had a better season than us are only lying to themselves.
Well done to Man utd considering their injuries and stuff they've done well.
But no I wouldn't want to finish 8th with an FA cup, that is what we did 4 years ago, we need to win the PL now!
I want the PL!
Would ten Hags future be talked about if they had our season? Not likely and that tells it all.
I think it could be seen as a disappointing season for Arsenal in going trophyless. They already did what they did last season, essentially, so probably should have picked up a trophy of some sort this time around.
As a fan I would take cup. As a owner they would take CL qualification.
Arsenal are in better shape but trophyless for a 4th season.
United have won 2 trophies in 2 seasons but league form was woeful at times now speculation about ETH's future.
Arsenal have to get top 4 and win a trophy next season preferably the title but more imprtance has to be placed on the cups.
I would rather have Arsenals season because of the context of modern day football

We may have finished 2nd again, but we really didn’t do ‘what we did last season’. Far from it. The team has progressed so much in a relatively short space of time.
Any other fan would probably take the FA Cup over 2nd place but in the last decade alone, we have won 4 of them. The next best are both Manchester clubs with 2 each. We need to win the league and it’s fair to say that based on both clubs’ relative performances this season, Arsenal are in a much better position than United to challenge for the league next season.
If we look back over this period with no PL or CL trophies to look back on then people could rightfully argue that those 2nd place finishes were for nothing
As a Spurs fan I would rather have United’s season. But if I were say a Liverpool fan I would probably choose Arsenals.

You finished 2 points behind City, rather than 5. It’s not this huge step you think it is.
I don't really care so much about the CL qualification, we could've got that with 4th having fallen further behind City.
I'd rather have had our season than United's without doubt though.
They went backwards from an already below par level (most expensive squad in the world yet nowhere near a league title for years) and won an FA Cup which may not even be enough for the manager to keep his job.
We proved last season wasn't some freak year and have continued to get better, we've certainly spent a lot too but we're seeing great progress and pushed this City side all the way in the league which is a huge improvement year on year.

We finished the season with 16 wins from 18 games and took the title race to the final day.
Last season, we finished the season with 10 wins from 18 games, only 5 clean sheets in that period, out of the title race with City having 5 games to play. If they didn’t have the title wrapped up and a treble to focus on, the gap would have been bigger than 5 points.
You already knew that though.

Your performances were better, you scored more goals, and got a few more points but you still came 2nd behind City and went trophyless, so essentially it's the same result as last season is what I'm saying. With that extra improvement I guess you can say it's disappointing you still don't have anything to show for it, at least in other competitions.

Yep. If you're most of the other top teams you'd take Arsenal's season but at Spurs where winning something, anything, has become the top priority, then we'd take United's season all day.
Yeah I get why Spurs or say Newcastle would prefer United's season. It means a lot more when you've not won a trophy in a long time. Not a dig, it does just make a lot more sense to sacrifice long term progress for a cup if you're a team that almost never wins anything.
Top teams should be aiming for CL qualification every season. This represents progress year on year from the club, manager and team. Its an indication you're heading in the right direction. Cups are all well and good but rely on so.many variables the winner may not be the better team overall but on the day. See the cup final yesterday as a prime example of that.
Arsenal have clearly had the better season than United and are in a better state and position both on and off the pitch.

Exactly, we have had title challenges recently and played plenty of CL football, and yes I enjoyed. What the club needs though is a trophy. A Europa league win next season would be huge for us at this point and might give us the impetus to push on domestically again as we currently look a million miles off a league challenge
Such a weird comparison. You could ask would you rather be in an FA cup final or go into the final day of the PL being able to win the title?
Football isn't enjoyed retrospectively. I can bet a lot that Arsenal fans had a more enjoyable season than us. In the title race all season and winning the big matches.
We had two enjoyable matches all season. Both in the cup. Very almost went out in the biggest embarrassment in the history of football.
The reality is that we had a whole season of misery, with two enjoyable days all season.
I am not sure we would choose that again next season over being in the title race every week going into the final day
Let's not be petty internet fans here.
There’s a difference between winning cup comp and league position. League position is a lot more telling.

Arsenal fans.. how many FA Cup trophies has your club won in it's history?
Now answer me this. How many times in your history have you finished second in the top division?
When you answer these two questions, you remember one of them. The other one no one gives a fack about.
End of the day it's not about how many times you 'participate' in a cl or any other tournament. There's no participation trophy.
The only thing anyone remembers is how many times you won the thing. Everyone remembers Real Madrid's European trophies, no body remembers or cares how many times they qualified for it
People don't remember how many times Arsenal have finished top 4. All they remember is Arsenal have won the CL 0 times in their over 100 year history!
No one will remember man United or arsenal finishing 8th whatever year, because they're too busy checking which clubs have x amount of trophies. United added a trophy. Arsenal did not and will not win the CL next year
