If he wants money at a level that completely upsets the balance of what we are trying to do then we need to just state quite clearly we are walking away and not trying to argue down his demands. In reality however we have better players who it would appear to be earning less than him, so for what he’s done so far; there’s no way we should be indulging him.

This was my thinking too … BUT today’s Beeb footie gossip have that “stumbling block” figure as his current Benfica wage of £840k pa, which is just over £16k a week. I’d assumed he was looking for far more than that for it to be an issue, but (if true) would sum up just where we’re at financially. Surely Peter Lawell is blowing a fuse if Rodgers is bidding £7.6M Livakovic if his replacement Perin from Juve is only £2.5M?

It’s not like we’re in the market for players currently at the Euros, and we also know exactly where we stand with CL group stages secured. We also absolutely fooked up the previous 2 windows. so we really have no excuses this time for not being organised early with our transfer business. Nobody is holding their breath on that though.
