He is the only defender who Haaland dribbled past if that helps

He is decent off both feet and looks the real deal to me.

We definitely don’t need another Maguire situation.

There's nothing he excels at, at all. It's all well and good looking decent for a poor lower league team but he isn't good enough for us.

For example people banter Harry Maguire, but Harry Maguire looked better for Leicester than what Branthwaite's done for Everton.

I reckon you could stick Lindelof in that Everton side and he'd look just as good as him too.

Avoid.

United about to buy another super expensive flop imo. He isn't bad but 70/80m? LOL!

If they buy him for what's being quoted sorry but the new guys have learnt nothing from the last 10yrs.

Too expensive for us.

Todibo for the right side for half the price, with Tosin Adarabioyo on a free for backup if we can pick him up, then Inácio from Sporting for the left side.

€100m spent on two players instead of just the one.

Todibo ———Martinez
Tosin———Inácio
Kambwala——Evans

Sell Maguire and Lindelof for a combined €30m and your total outlay is ballpark €70m.

Looks a very promising defender. Could be a good investment, especially given Everton’s financial issues means we’d be able to pick him up for a decent price.

I think we need more experience at cb, though. But we need at least two cbs signed this summer, so wouldn’t be mad if he was one and we got a more experienced one as well.

Adarabioyo makes sense whoever we chose to sign as a second CB to be honest.

I like the look of Branthwaite, but I haven't watched him week in week out. He certainly looked a level above at Everton. Composed, good on the ball, good in the air, strong, chips in with goals.

If I were to pick a CB from the PL to sign, it'd probably be him as he should have 10 years at this level. As I say though I haven't seen enough to say he's the one we should be signing for the sort of fees discussed.

I've simply not seen enough of Todibo to compare.

This is the key, Everton probably need to sell him, it's pure profit from an FFP perspective and he's one of the few they can get good money for.

In an ideal world, he'd say I want Utd or nothing and then we can try to be quite ruthless in our negotiation.

The problem is that we need two CBs (one ready to start), a left back, a CM ready to start, and a striker, minimum.

And we have to do that with probably something like £150m-£200m.

There’s no way we can fork out £75m+ on one player IMO.

Yeah, people see English defender at prem club and it triggers the Harry Maguire trauma. I get that, I’m still suffering from it.

But the situations aren’t comparable, Everton are in a state and aren’t in any position to be demanding stupid fees like that.

On this summer, generally speaking, I think it’s going to be an awful lot more difficult, more frustrating and ultimately more disappointing than people seem to be expecting.

(Happy holidays! )

I mostly agree. I'd love Olise though, but apparently his release clause has doubled from last season to £70m. We definitely lack firepower.

Guirassy looks a well rounded striker who had a low release clause, again I haven't seen huge amounts of him.

Frimpong is a RB but he looks terrific and has a good release clause, he'd settle in England quickly too. Maatsen also falls into a similar category. This with the caveat that Dalot would need to spend more time at LB.

I've seen Tobido compared to Verane, he plays for a club that INEOS are shareholders in, maybe we can get a good deal there.

There are some good deals to be had this summer imo.

I like him a lot. Agree 70m+ is far too much, but by all accounts we might be able to lowball Everton a bit provided he wants to come here. In England at least, I reckon our only competition would be Chelsea.

Vidic looked worse at Spartak Moscow. Avoid.

He would be a Maguire mark II.

Eventually give Everton the asking price and we find out pretty quickly he isnt all that afterall at the top table standards required. Imo.

If we did sign two CBs this Summer could we perhaps see Martinez nominally as a LB on occasion?

Depends what you want from your LB. I think he could play there for City/Arsenal for example. Not for Spurs or Liverpool.

Presumably it's the position Arteta wanted him for when Arsenal were trying to sign him.

Everton play a low block. If that's how United want to play then he is the right signing. No one has seen him in a high line.
