70s
Aguirre, the Wrath of God

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I reckon this is the most over rated movie of all time
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Best I watch it again then 😆

It was so difficult narrowing down the 80s and 90s lists, so many great films.

I had to absolutely rack my brains for 5 from 2010s and didn't even attempt a 2020s list. Oppenheimer is superb but even recent Oscar nominations haven't been all that great.

The Irishman is superb but was released tail end of 2019 so it is a 2010s film. I don't think I could think of another 2020s film apart from Oppenheimer, the cinema has been overloaded with comic book drivel for so long.

as was 'the outlaw josey wales' in the 70's..
just too many good films in that period to fit into a list of 5...
and that's without even mentioning the dirty harry films, or the man with no name trilogy...

For the 80s I've got:

E.T. The Extra Terrestrial 1982
Blade Runner (Director’s Cut) 1982/1992
Entre Nous/Coup de Foudre 1983
Blue Velvet 1986
Withnail & I 1987

I also forgot Quadrophenia for the 70's and Billy Elliott for the 00's

Both would be in my top 5's

1960's:

Psycho
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Great Escape
The Good, Bad and the Ugly
In the Heat of the Night

2020's:

Dune
Top Gun: Maverick
All Quiet on the Western Front
Sisu
Killers of the Flower Moon

Honestly not that many to pick from. Poor decade so far.
